Freighters with Low Slots

Hi Everybody,

I was flying around the other day in my freighter and was thinking it would be awesome if it had some low slots. Not for repair or resists modules but for propulsion upgrade modules and nanofibers.

What do you think?

i've been thinking about this for a while. one low slot to improve cargo, agility or EHP would seem a very nice addition. of course, you would have to deal with hordes of whiny suicide gankers.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Only if freighter are nerfed so that cargo capacity never reaches a million M3. IMHO CCP is totally correct in wanting to keep carriers out of highsec.

shouldn't be all too hard; just nerf the base cargo capacity so that one Expanded Cargohold still keeps the charon slightly under 1kk with perfect skills. people will ***** and moan because they now have to choose if they want less EHP or more EHP and less cargo space but eventually, they will adapt.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Or, preferably, code a better way to keep capitals out of highsec than having to artificially keep cargo limits under a certain threshold.

Or limit what can be placed in the low slots to anything except cargo expanders

Why stop at low slots?

I think CCP didn't give them slots because they wanted them to be all the same.

Give them an 8/8/8 combo with bonuses to all guns and they can now have titan grade weapons with tracking bonuses.

I doubt it, any one foolish enough to fill up their pinata with enough value to be ganked would most likely put a cargo expander on it, making it easier to gank.

I definitely wasn't thinking of cargo expanders. I was just thinking of ways to help it turn quicker. No Warp Bonuses. No ABs. Plus with propulsion upgrades, it takes away from Hull HP so they die quicker so gankers shoulding be whining.

Easily done. Simply split the current Cargobay into a 500,000 m3 cargohold and a 300,000 m3 (approximate values) Fleet hangar. The cargo capacity at Freighter [5] should be kept the same but as it's split into two seperate bays, although its total capacity may exceed a million cubic meters it can never be used to haul capitals.

With this sort of limitation it may be viable to further increase the space - at the risk of the pilot of course. It might be worth having both bays capable of hauling fitted BS for example without a significant overlap for people to complain about.

Not that long ago the idea of Fleet Hangars on Freighters would have raised issues with them hauling for mining ops but as there are ways that can be done now anyway...

Nice to see the gankers derailing a thread.

Many times, it has been suggested that CCP nerf cargo capacity to an amount where a single Cargohold Expander will provide what is now a freighter's current cargo capacity.

In exchange, they would receive one low slot, roughly 40 CPU, and one or two PG.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth, howls of outrage, and cries of "Don't make MY fun harder, CCP!!" from the ganking community are positively epic.

That is not a bad idea. This way a person can use a cargo expander to reach max capacity of the freighter or propulsion upgrades that will lower the hull's hit points.
