Hearthstone happened and i must admit that is an excellent pastime for when i do not really interesting things in EVE (mining, waiting, jumping, trading etc.).

So i thought what if existed a card game here in our EVE client where you can play for isk, assets or other players card. It could be a good mobile strategy (phones, tablets etc.) where they would DL the game and interact with the tranquility server.

This would be a really interesting thing and add a very needed instant gratification feature into EVE online. And who really wouldn't love an EVE cardgame. With all of its ships, modules, boosters, characters etc. So many possibilities!

There was an EVE CCG at some point, I have some of the cards.

Digitising it to play in game could be kind of cool.

didnt SWG do that around the end of its lifetime?

i think it did because i remember playing a digital card game on the computer for star wars and getting a pod racer out of it, then stopped playing once my sub ran out because i finally realized how little fun i was actually having in SWG after Combat Upgrade and New Game Enhancements

*Edit*: on that note, i wouldnt be OPPOSED< hell, id cough up Aurum for booster cards (if only because they do have to pay SOMEONE for art/dev time, aswell as actually playing and BALANCING the card game)

actually, that COULD be a little tough, with CCP's history of "balancing", card games generally dont get "revisisions" to the cards after they are released first time, which means it would need EXTENSIVE balacning pre-release, which is NOT soemthing CCP is good at.

Please don't give them ideas, they're already wasting all the time in Dust and Valkyrie instead of EVE, go figure if they allocate divert more resources also for a card game...

What kind or card game did you have in mind? Top Trumps? Magic the Gathering style? Eve Poker?

It's certainly an interesting concept. I'd love to play a card game over the screen in my captain's quarters and bet ISK on the outcome. Hell, card games are a big thing in their own rite. I can imagine a future where the alliance tournament has separate tournaments for Eve and an Eve card game.

Something ala magic and gathering.
CCP already made a CCG so they can just make a digital version and incorporate it in the client .

I strongly suspect that CCP did not write the rules or do the balancing for the EVE TCG. I would imagine that was actually handled by White Wolf.

This is perfect thing for community to make themselves so that we can play it via in-game browser, for example.
No need to distract devs even more.

As long as the ideas are not huge expensive project like Dust its ok. CCP need to increase its revenue eventually. Is growth has been slow, smaller probably than the expenses increases they face probably.

Nothing wrong on them trying to expand, but the ammount of focus on it must be well measured ( i.e not incarna level of fail)

They have a team already for a mobile strategy development. So they can fit it right there (mobiles, tablets) with a nice twist by connecting it to the EVE client. The TCG is already there, maybe it would need some tuning.
