Well, you can go play a Heavy in Dust, it's a mech-suit...
And with a well-placed orbital strike, you might reach orbit Twisted

Same reason we don't have WIS ? Nobody is really interested ? It's not part of "The Vision" ? Roll

The problem with hollywood these days, if everything is copypasta scripted, you have the typical close call in each battle scene, the sacrificing heros, and the girl and the guy romance, you have the high school top gun iceman/maverick rivalry, and then you get some one liners from the comedy relief.

Basically top gun with mechs

It was fun. Do you expect your escapist silver-screen fiction to be a treatise on the human condition?

No I expect it to avoid dervative boring repetition that other things have done better and better characters than cookie-cutter all American ding-dangs from a director of that calibre

Not to mention more interesting designs for the robots

It actually made Cloverfield look competant.

Still, it wasnt Iron Sky. It did have that going for it.

Cloverfield was a good movie, and so was Pacific Rim.

I have spoken.

Since this became an IMDB message board all of a sudden, I'll chime in...

The movie sucked. It was SO BAD. But the special effects were great.
A large number of people ended up liking it.

The only conclusion I draw is this: If you liked the movie, you're one of those people easily amused by big flashy lights and explosions. You probably liked Transformers, Fast & Furious, etc. If you disliked the movie, you were probably searching for good plot and acting content, and didn't find any.

I'm a sucker for eye candy and interesting action sequences, so I enjoyed the film. Then again I also enjoyed John Carter of Mars and am quite bitter that it did so poorly against the Avengers at the box office, so there you have it. Smile

By the way, that Russian mecha could have totally stomped everyone's butt (human and alien alike) if it had been quick enough to get out of the way of that acid blast. Big smile

because making a spaceship in the shape of a bipedal species makes about as much sense as making a car in the shape of an octupus

Or people who enjoyed the movie are artists who understand the levels and purposes of varying degrees of creative works and arts. It was no Shawshank Redemption or Forest Gump, never sought out to be. It is was it is. Giant robots fighting monsters. Without being a drawn out kid-hero-centric anime, or something with Godzilla and foam suits, or a feature film adaptation of Power Rangers.
