We have the Alliance Tournament annually for the big alliances, and we have on-site tournaments for those that choose to attend the bigger gatherings and conferences such as EVE Fanfest and EVE Vegas. For those that simply want to form a team and fight in the arenas of New Eden we have the New Eden Open.

CCP Bro has written a dev blog announcing the second New Eden Open! Head on over here to read it.

The first New Eden Open was a success, bar the fact that getting the prizes out of the way took longer than it should have. Let's make the second New Eden Open a smashing and riveting success!

Is the registration fee going to be paid in ISK?

If so, I do feel that this is not in line with CCPs recent actions against PLEX sellers that paid out extra money (e.g. somerblink).

you need to sort out the drone assist mechanics .. mainly remove it entirely from the game and this will help stop domi sentry setups from being OP..

a drone rebalance would be nice to...

marauders will dominate with bastion mode in the size the arena is and the small team sizes..

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

Nerf web strength, Make the blaster Eagle worth using

If the Signups are between 12 - 20 December we will need to provide the team compositions to when we signup?
Or we can provide the team composition later since we don't know the rules and the teams are limited we need to carefully select the chars/players for the team and the rules could play an important role doing so?

What thought has been put into leveling the playing field as an e-sports event?

For tourney's taking place and having prizes in the Eve Universe such as the Alliance Tournament it makes sense to me to have have differences with skill points, resources and such.

However for a Tournament with real cash or if trying to build a recurrent E-sport around Eve Online game play I think it would make more sense to reduce the variables and really only have player skill and strategy affect the outcome.

As such is there any thought to having or creating a dedicated Tournament server with all max SP characters with equal access to ships and modules that are allowed by the tournament's rule set?

No guaranteed spot for the NEO runner up team ? :peer: P

Also about them prizes - money is cool and all that, but shiny ships for the victors are still a much better idea, at least from a long-term tournament team perspective.

To be clear, you're allowing a team to have a 12 character roster in a 8 man format. While I understand that you want to make the monetary prizes more meaningful, allowing only 4 alternates per team is not the way to go about it if you want teams to pretend to follow the EULA.

Can we go with 16-18 person teams? We need a few more than 4 alternates for a 8 person team. I agree the prize pool should be more meaningful. However, 6-8 alternates would be nice so we can switch up set ups fairly quickly with bans, fill in in case someone can't make it due to RL issues, etc.
