seriously...flying solo and ill equipped on GD will only get you ganked. :]

New Eden has cause to celebrate, there is one less whiner in her midst. Seriously, EVE is not for you. It rewards the patient. It rewards the persistent. It also requires, as you would have eventually found out, real world PvP skills as well as character skills. An experienced player in a noob character will beat an inexperienced player in a maxxed skill toon every time. It's not all about the skill queue. Still, players come, players go. Bye bye. Me, I'll stay.

Think of it like this...Ever arrest a guy red-handed who then spent the entire ride to the pokey blaming everyone but himself for getting busted?

Same diff here, only EVE GD is more like the naked guy high on goofballs, standing in the middle of the playground, screaming about the Goonspiracy after copiously wetting himself.

Ohh, and you get to clean the cruiser out afterwards.

I'd encourage you to give it another try. 4 million focused SP can definitely beat 20 million SP. The hardest part in this game is figuring out what you what you like and what you want to do. Sure you won't be as flexible as someone who has 20 million SP but you can pick and choose what you like then do well in those areas. Eventually you end up being the 20 million SP guy. Another rut people fall in is "grass is greener" it won't be better after you train that skill and you need to once again figure out what you want to do.

Since when is anyone in Brave Newbies such an angst spewing carebear?

I have a feeling we're being trolled, and if not, then BNI is richer for the loss.

I thinks, this complaint is less a "skillpoints" issue and more a "skill" issue.
Anyway, best of luck finding a game you fit better.

I have every confidence that if you were flying around with 20 million SPs and I were flying around with 4 million SPs, I (or, frankly, most people, judging by your newbish whinging) could trivially curbstomp you any number of ways.

The thing about having a lot of SP is that you only get to use a fraction of them at any given time.

OP has conflated NICE with GOOD.
What's this nonsense about stuff you gave away mentioned just after claims that you would never gank a hauler?

NICE is a false self presented to be pleasing. It's an infantile way of dealing with people.
GOOD is genuine and consistent in the face of trials.
That's why nice guys finish last. It's the insincerity that scares people off.

I've met loads of lovely smart friendly and competent people in eve, you need to get out more.

But i will accept any stuff contracted to me.

Also, eve isn't for everyone.
Maybe we enjoy being evil?

Yes, that is very apparent. And somewhere in the background the giant empires of game companies like Blizzard stand back and laugh at CCP like a Goonswarm Titan Pilot laughs at the battle venture trying to gank it. I bet even Turbine makes more money.

There's more to life than being the biggest and best. The fact that Eve is alive, vibrant and constantly gaining subscribers despite gameplay mechanics that almost harken back to the MUD days says they are doing something right.

I have no problem with critiques of the game, but this was just a dumb jab.

So the sub numbers prove the game sucks yet it took you five months to figure it out? Neat trick mathsman.

Anyway, thanks for an entertaining thread. Nothing quite like watching EVE chew them up and spit them out.

I'm done with this game. I've already transferred several billions in assets to another member of BNI who was just about the only tolerable person I've met on this game so we can skip the "can I has your stuffs" replies.

People love to announce they're leaving Eve, and I'm happy to join the club. The skill training queue in this game is about the most foolish implantation I've seen in an MMO. To achieve reasonable revenge against those who repeatedly gank you, you just have to hold off for a year until you have the skills to fly a ship of moderate caliber against those who go after you. I finally realized that waiting a year was not worth it. I don't mind PvP games, I've enjoyed them when they're about skill or done in a balanced environment. Eve provides the opposite of a balanced environment and one gets sick of never being able to punish people who agress you for no reason. I also don't really consider ganking my industrial as I put through low-sec or what not as "PvP" so much as "Pv." I figured no big deal, I would train blockade runner. Then I realized I had to spend a month training that and that's a month I can't dedicate to combat skills or anything else. That's right, I have to give CCP $20 and wait a whole month just to make my character capable of running away.

It's a very creative business model, honestly. You prey simply on the hope that things will get better and one day, two years later, for doing nothing at all but paying CCP $15-$20 a month, you too can be effective in PvP which most companies work to ensure is plausible for players in the first place.

Oh well, I don't really have anything constructive to say. I was playing X3 Albion and I realized I was having fun playing a game... And then I remembered that I used to think playing MMO's was also fun, until I started playing Eve, and then I was just playing because I wanted to make the jerks who make the game so frustrating to play pay. However, after careful consideration, I realized that, not only is it really not worth waiting around for a year for, it's also a huge waste of real life money that I could be spending on MMO's that don't suck by being unwilling to reward active playing of the game.

At least I can take solace in the fact that CCP called you all evil when they named the Eve Gate after, well, Eve. I tend to agree with them - I've never played a game that really brought out the worst in people in a video gaming environment.

I had a few options for a reply to this, and couldn't decide between them, so I'll lay all three on you.

1. Well then.... you weren't a very brave newbie after all, were you?

2. WAIT!! You can't go!!!

I haven't ganked you yet Sad

3. Do you think the best PVP'ers became the best by quitting? I've beat players more than 3-4 years older than me, so good riddance to bad rubbish.

You win the math fail of the century for thinking all 20 million sp will be devoted to that one ship your opponent is flying.

Seriously you cant get a group together to protect a hauler?

I think your problem is you're doing it wrong. If you look at eve in a "skills/assets" to the rescue methodology you will always be on the defensive.

Nah, I really expected the hauler to get ganked. But I'm the kind of person who, no matter how many skill points I have, I'm not going to gank that industrial going through low or null. Honestly, ask the corp, I gave away 5 billion ISK in assets - I'm not so much worried about the fact that my industrial got ganked in null (shocking) so much as I realized this game is a giant waste of time that isn't very fun as opposed to MMO's that are great fun and are still a waste of time. Enjoy yourself.

500mil isk says this guy's close personal 'friend' got to know how carebear he was, got close and personal and ganked him repeatedly with alts until he wanted to quit in order to claim his assets.

OP, please tell me who you gave your stuffs to, so I can go and see if I can haz some of it from him.

Also, Blockade runners can be a lot of fun, some people might think all there is to PvP is pew pew, but they are wrong.

Here's some lovely examples of PvP in Eve that do not involve blowing people up:

1) Masterminding a market manipulation scheme that nets you billions while other players are paying through the nose and getting hosed by it.

2) Infiltrating a corp and robbing it for every penny they have, then awox all their shinies with your friends.

3) Dodge a 20 man gatecamp with your blockade runner, wave at them in local, then come back and do it again.

4) Work out a highly profitable set of manufacturing lines, setting up regular purchases from people at cut rate prices, then sell your goods at a premium.

5) Sneak into enemy held territory in a cover ops, and steal all their relic and data sites from under their noses, then escape with your hundreds of millions in phat loot.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. And none of these things require a single skillpoint in pew pew skills.
Personally, I have done items, 3, 4 and 5, and hope to work out something to do number 1 on that list at some point.
