Got to agree with the OP, these items hold some sentimental value. I know that marketing bastards don't place value in such things, so maybe someone higher up who's actually human could smack them for us?

CCP should offer the "Guardian Vexor" in their next promotion. They'd get a ton more new users, I'm sure. ;)

It's great that CCP brought the Cerebral Accelerator back, but they should've introduced an item with different name but of identical nature so the values/worth of the original Accelerators are not devalued.

We are fine with CCP providing items as part of their sales promotion as long as they are not the same items already issued to commemorate certain historical events. Recycling old historical items only cheapens the sentimental values attached to those items.

Moot point. As they are often on contracts, why not throw them in as a freebie to all 'Power of Two'? The Cerebral is at least useful for new characters unlike for someone like you.

How would you feel if Hydra Reloaded's recently won rewards of Vangurs and Alliance Tournament Gold Medals are frivolousness handed out as bonus for purchasing 13 x PLEXs with cash?

We understand that the market values of Primae, Zephyr, Echelon, Apotheosis, and Cerebral Accelerator are nowhere comparable to the Alliance Tourney ships. But just like how Hydra Reloaded has sentimental values attached to those reward ships, many of us have sentimental values attached to those gifts from CCP. In many of our perspectives, we "earned" these rare unique rewards for subscribing and being active participants in the game of EVE. If these unique awards are frivolously handed out in other Sales Promotion, it not only cheapens the market value, but our sentimental values attached to those items as well.

I'd rather them bring back old "sentimental" items than take their attention away from improving the game to develop a bunch of new "free" items to include with their promotions.

Given that there was once a push to avoid having Alliance tournament prizes funding Alliances (which led to the prizes the tournament after the State Ravens being medals and very little else IIRC) then adding independent supplies of ships like the Mimir and Adriesta (sp?) might well be benificial...

Indeed, as the Frekis were still being trickled out (IIRC) when the Utu and Adriesta hit Tranquility I half expected the Minmatar ships to find another outlet.

The medals are another matter but...

Please stop throwing sentimental value around. Sentimental value is the value that someone places on an object. This value varies from person to person and can vary widely, and is not a tangible value when comparing to market value.

I have sentimental value on a Rifter that I have flown 100's of times. Does this make it any more valuable then other Rifters? Not on the open market. Just because I have flown it 100's of times does not mean it is worth any more then the brand new Rifter that came off the production queue.

I agree with the OP. I like being able to identify an item like the Apotheosis with a specific event. "We got the Apotheosis on EVE's 5th Birthday - I WAS THERE. I don't want them to be associated with a specific marketing campaign. I'm happy for maybe specific promotional ships to be used like the Interbus Shuttle. But christmas / birthday items should be unique to those events.

Personally? Anyone buying 13 PLEXs with cash does deserve a prize and if that prize is a shiny ship like the Vangur, I am happy with that because it means more ships for me to blow up.

Does that answer your question?

I would give up 2 000 000 m/3 of Arkonor and Bistot to have Freki BPOs in game. P

I agree with the Antiquarian. Unlike him I am not in possession of a vast many rare items yet (started the game too late) though i did manage to buy e.g. an apotheosis (which has now slipped massively in price). I'm still saving up for old T2 BPOs and other random stuff that is no longer released. However it is a shame to see old commodities devalue, whereas new stuff would be fantastic to receive and collect!

I won't deny I was greatly disappointed to find my nest egg (A large collection of Apoths) have now become and item that has increased over time rather than decreased in numbers...

Why not give out an Opux luxury yatch or something then?

Agreed with the OP. somewhere back in empire i treasure my one-time-only ships. including an apotheosis i once won on eve-radio. its not that they're worth a lot, but the sentimental value is there, and now it gets decreased with re-using them.

So if they start offering combat ships for the purchase of 13 PLEX packs, how is that any different from "pay to win"?

(I don't care much about the Apothesis - I would care a lot more if it was a combat ship. The cerebral acc implant edges a bit towards the line of "pay to win" with the ROF/Damage bonus.)
