Low end WH ship

I'm interested in the combat anomalies found in wormholes, but am not sure where to start.

I understand the basic mechanics and differences about WH-space (i.e. no local), but whenever I look for information on where a new person can start out, I run into fittings and ship suggestions that are far beyond my capability or financial ability.

What is a good starting point for running C1 wormhole anomalies? Is it possible without a T1/T2 fit ship, or do you *have* to have the super expensive modules, etc.?

Thanks.

WH space isnt meant to be easy solo mode.

To solo a C1 WH, you are looking at a T2 fitted battlecruiser with good support skills at minimum.

A Drake with medium or even low skills can solo C2's fine even C3s with good skills. Slowly but fine. I have been doing so. With better skills you can start swapping out tank for DPS and props mods and clear them faster.

Sleepers however are much harder targets than normal rats. Omni damage and omni tanked and will switch aggression and ewar. C3s can have scrams i think, C2 there are webs and neuts. There are no bounties so its loot and salvage. Sleepers are really only worth it for the salvage.

However no matter what you fly you will eventually run into cloakie gankers that will kill you no matter how much you mash dscan. You will always lose ships in WH space. But mostly you make far more than it costs. Mostly.....

edit: My drake is a t2/t1 fit, so yea you can do lower class WH without shiny. Once you get t3;s however, shiny is worth it to get your value out of the hull.

Bring a cloak, and dont launch your probes near the WH entry point.

If my pilot is certain to face death... I want full ramming speed towards the enemy ship...

That one is new advice...because someone is probably cloaked there? or is it a different reason. I never thought about it myself, usually I go to the sun first before dropping probes, just because it centers my group when I switch to system map.

Neither is a good idea. It's the first two places we check on d-scan when you come bustin into our home system and dropping probes and all that.

This.

Deploy probes from a mid-warp safe spot...then warp to another safe and cloak up there while probing.

People first check the WH entry, then the sun, then planets...

I've seen the Drake mentioned in a couple places, but what sort of fitting should I aim for? HAM? Passive/Active?

The only time probes are gathered in space is at the location where you drop them off. I did that, cloaked my ship and slowly moved it away from the probes and WH entry point. Seconds later a pair of T2 ships fly in, drops a bubble, launches orbiting drones and start flying in patters in an attempt to get close enough to de-cloak med. And T2 ships gives quite a devastating punch on a T1 battlecruiser. Ship lost, clone lost. Job well done to the pirates.

You should assume that you are not alone in a WH.
If you want PvP, bring some friends.
If you want PvE, stay invisible whenever possible.

I dont have any good advice for what modules to choose...

I have excellent skills for a T2 fit Drake. C1, no problem. C2 anoms are a challenge however, and simply not worth the time it takes. For Soloing C2 I prefer a Navy Scorp or Tengu.

To the OP, fit the best T1/T2 Drake you can and run anoms in C1 wh's. Good experience. However, you need to salvage your wrecks as there are no bounties on Sleepers.

Heavy Missiles, a TP, drones, and a resist tank (ie invuls). You also need a full rack of BCUs because by the time to fit a cloak and a probe launcher, your dps isn't going to be great.

Don't do it solo. A couple AF's and t1 cruisers with a salvage fit destroyer will smash through a C1. Just make sure to put some stabs on the dessi as it will be a floating piggy bank.

The towers in sites can rip apart an AF pretty fast.

I remember my first trip into a (C1) wormhole - I took an Enyo in thinking 'fast, agile, good tracking - this will be safe to see what these sites are like'. One volley and I'm at 40% armor.

It wasn't a great fit for WHs in hindsight, but even a better fit will have pretty low EHP. I came back with a low to medium skilled Myrmidon and had no trouble clearing sites until a roaming gang found me and sent me packing.

I think your idea of "low skills" is different to mine. Low skills drakes DIE when soloing c2 sites, or take so long warping out between every kill that it's not worth your time.

Please do not take your low skills Drake into a C2 solo. Or do but don't complain when you die rapidly to rats and the evil Sirius Turrets..

Are there any missions or anomalies in high-sec that compare to a C1? Something I could poke at without having to be overly concerned about other players? I know high-sec isn't completely safe, but it seems there might be some missions or such that overlap with the difficulty of wormhole sites.

Not really. Closet would be L4 in .5 system.

Keep in mind WH npc is omi damage. Nearly no missions give you omi damage to deal with. Exceptions can be found if you do worlds collide and somehow aggro both groups in intial room. There is another scenrio.

For the most part, it would be a little better practice attempting to run anomms in npc null. Then transition to wh. As it would get you more prepared via Dscan/cloaking/probing and just a threat of death from players that is less likely in HS when using a bc T1/T2 fit.

I would also recommend attempting to join a WH corp. As they would assist you in adjusting to the different lifestyle and help you in emergency.

The main difference in wormhole sites and missions is that Sleepers do omni-damage, instead of one or two predictable damage types. This means you need to up all of your resists instead of focusing on one or two. Google Eve Survival and read up on the C1 site you want to attempt. Get your resists as high as you can and go take a whack at it. Eve Survival will tell you what the triggers are and such, and whether or not you will get scrammed in the site. As long as the sleepers don't scram you can always warp out if you get in too deep.

Spam Dscan while you work. We wormhole folk love to bring presents for "visitors". And stick to C1s at first. They are much less populated than C2s so you'll have a better chance of not getting caught while you figure things out.

Go have a look through the wormhole section of the forums. You will get better answers and might find a group that is willing to take you in.

The big difference is that missions rely on threatening you with overwhelming numbers of trivial rats. If you get into trouble, it's because they slowly work your tank down and then stack one type of EWAR on you until it overwhelms.

WH sites are much more a few really dangerous rats and towers.

Then there's the danger of other players.

Here's what you should do. Jump clone into an empty (but upgraded) clone. Fit out a cruiser (you can afford to throw one of these away, right?) with a tech 1 probe launcher, grab salvage drones, and scan down a C1 wormhole.

Try a site. See what happens. If you succeed, repeat with a new site, then another. Drop off loot every two sites, then return to the WH. When you lose your ship, pay attention to why you lose it and ask for help again.
