Another day when I can't login.

Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.

Yeah I think I am finally done with this game. Sad thing is I recommend this game all the time at the store that I run. The last week I have been getting disconnected every couple minutes. I would lose sites to people, and lose ships. I made a petition (Cause that totally helped) only to get the same generic response that was on here a minute ago. About it being a clamped cord, reset modem.. blah blah. My computer runs BF4 on ultra, i can play that for hours and NOT GET DISCONNECTED, or lagged out at that matter. Eve online is the only game I am having this problem with. So please, don't insult my intelligence by saying this problem is on my end, because it is clearly not. Looks like my sub is going to expire and I say farewell to eve.

Same error here. I was dual boxing, one of my accounts got socket closed, the other stayed connected.

Oddly enough, the socket closed character didn't e-warp like you would if you log off or dc normally, only e-warped a minute and a half later after I tried to log in again with said account.

Hope you guys get it fixed soon.

Confirming the same bug here.

I dont remember having this issue yesterday after patching, but today its occurring about every 10 minutes. I've gone through all the troubleshooting steps on my end, with no success. Sure hope you get this fixed, as I will not undock with the possibility of a disconnection looming over me. Ergo, I will not be able to play until this is fixed.

After another go at solving this problem, I noticed that my HDD was getting close to its capacity. So after deleting about 9g of data, I no longer have any more socket closed errors.

All I can say is that since this morning, I was getting that error more and more often until my connection was eventually dropping every few minutes during a market query. After freeing up some memory, I have left my client open for about an hour now without incident. Market works just fine.

Ill come back if anything else develops.

Thank you CCP for an awesome expansion, and awesome game.

11/21 - Something developed. Still getting socket closed errors again. This isnt happening with any other games, or programs.

I haven't been online for more than 3 mins for a month since I 'upgraded' to fiber.

I am in UK 20 Miles from the London Servers and 30 meters from the telephone exchange (Very good connection)
Was on ADLS 20Mbps down and 8Mbps up, never had a problem.
Now, fiber 30 Mbps down and 10Mbps up and getting disconnected after 3-5 mins every time no matter the time of day

Old provider BE.There now with EE on fiber.

So my issue may well be directly linked with the ISP but they have been putting tracers on my connection and monitoring it and there have been no drops!

Seems like a very low tolerance to any packet loss no matter the speed of the connection!

Will be cancelling the payments I think, shame after 10 years playing!

I have been getting this continiously for 2 weeks now, anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. Tried playing at 4am right through to 11pm, I am EVE time +2.

Running 1 account, wireless, from South Africa. International cable runs from SA and anchors in London. Can't see any packet loss, or timeouts.

Not the fastest connection but I had no issues until the Rubicon release, started every 30 minutes, then escalated to the point where the game is unplayable.

Did multiple repairs and whatnot without success.

Not running through Steam, no other issues with the client or launcher, just the bloody "Socket Closed" double error message.

As of this moment I am not able to get past login, just a black screen that hangs for 5+ minutes before it realizes that the socket was closed, 5 minutes ago ....

My connection to the game has been great since I started playing, but today it's been constant connection lost and socket error messages. I've been watching my connection and monitoring it back to eve servers and I have no packet loss or oddities.

Anyone know what is up?

I can't get anything done with the game dropping like this. About the time I get setup to do something I get connection lost again.

It has been theorized that CCP changed some of the coding to be much MUCH less lenient on packet drops. Where in the past a single packet drop would not effect eve. These days it does. And each patch it seems it gets more strict as more ppl who have never expereinced socket disconnects magically start getting them after particular patches.

Though i have yet to see CCP say they ever did anything of that nature. The only replies i've seen are the typical 'its not on our end, therefore you are doing it wrong' type of response.

ok, its been nearly a week since ive had socket closed error.

Now its down to two things:

1) they've fixed it somehow Shocked

2) i turned off my media sharing, as i remember reading about interuptions on the network in this thread somewhere, & it got me thinking.

so far so good. Media sharing & file sharing "may" have been causing the issue for me. Ill see how it goes in another week or so.

As of two days ago i still had the problem. Haven't logged in since.
I have no media sharing at home and i'm connected by a lan cable to the router and my problems started out of the blue one month ago.

Two days ago i just managed to log in before getting socket lost still sitting in port.

I hope it will magically fix itself for me too since i have come to love this game and would hate to leave again. Paid til new years and will stop subscribing after that if the problem persists,

I minimized the "Socket Closed" errors by bypassing the EVE Launcher completely. Just login the old way.

I changed absolutely nothing else. Still the same ISP, still wireless, still in Africa(!), same modem, same settings. Did not use VPN, or reset/restart router.

Bypass the EVE Launcher: "...:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\exefile.exe"

friend has had this issue since yesterday, His ISP is EE (UK), His ping is a steady 35/40 ms and hes had no issues with any other MMOs hes been playing.

He's unable to login using the method stated above as he used his steam ID to login.

I've been having this very same problem. I haven't dared to get into a fight since I started having this problem with the update that had occured about a month or so ago. For the interim I had figured that it was a glitch on CPP's end. Now, with the most recent update, I can't even get past the login page. The client opens, lets me enter my user name and password then after I select "Play" I see the Eve icon in my dock but almost as soon as it appears, the program shuts down and I'm left with only the launcher part of the program. This is very frustrating since I'm disabled and can't work so I spend most of my days on Eve. I've been going stir crazy all day today without Eve and the Socket Disconnected problem has been driving me super batty. I've read through this forum as best as I can without finding any answers that makes sense to me. My meds have my comprehension skills greatly reduced. Sad I'm afraid I have to ask for some serious help here. Ugh
