Metallurgy & Research skills, and the EVE Wiki

I've been away for a while and was wondering if something really did change with these skills, or do they still work the same, IE, let you research ME faster and make you copy faster?

Reason I'm asking is because the EVE Wiki was updated recently, on 3 October 2011 by someone called DetKhord Saisio to say this:

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Research_and_manufacturing

Quote:
Blueprint Research Skills

Metallurgy - Advanced knowledge of mineral composition. 5% Bonus to material efficiency research speed per skill level.

- i.e. for a manufacturing job without metallurgy skill you use 100,000 tritanium. Metallurgy 5 level training reduces minerals required by 25 percent, so build materials is reduced by 25,000 tritanium.

- Or for a manufacturing job with Metallurgy 5 skill you effectively make all your blueprints more material efficient, now requiring 25 percent fewer minerals to manufacture.

Research - Skill at researching more efficient production methods. 5% bonus to blueprint manufacturing time research per skill level.

- i.e. 1-day manufacturing job without research skill you make ship 1. Research 5 level training reduces time required by 25 percent, so build time for the ship is now 18 hours.

- Or 30-day manufacturing job with Research 5 skill you can now manufacture faster, so your 100-ship production line output increased by 25 (100/4 = 25) and now you make 125 ships in the same 30 days.

It is a wiki site. Feel free to adjust where necessary.

Not sure my intent at the time I wrote that, but I think I wanted to say something to the effect of those skills help your production by allowing researched blueprints to use fewer minerals and with less time. I do see the confusion you are having.

Of course. I just didn't want to edit anything if I was not sure what was correct, hence me posting this question.

So those skills didn't change? I don't have any worked out examples for how much those skills affect your research, so for now I'll just remove the incorrect examples.

EDIT: Nevermind, Tau Cabalander fixed it up before I had a chance to :)

I just updated it.

EDIT: I also added a comment about training Advanced Laboratory Operation 5. It is often more efficient to stop training your main and train an alt for additional slots, as level 5 takes a really long time to train for only a single slot. You can probably train 10 more slots on an alt in the same amount of time.

Advanced Laboratory Operation 5 is a great skill to train when you have brain freeze and cant decide what else to train at the moment.

Its what i am doing What?

edit - on a science alt that is, not this toon

Yes, you seem to feel like editing where you feel like it.
You should have refrained from editing it at all, the quoted stuff is plainly wrong, not merely confusing. The crime is made worse by being on eveonlines own wiki.

And you felt it was necessary to mislead newer players by editing it to say something that is just straight up wrong?
