High Slot + Item Confusion

A venture has 3 high slots and 2 turret hardpoints, so I can only use two mining lasers. Meanwhile the Procurer has one high slot and zero turret hardpoints.

I'm guessing that the barges uses the Strip Miners over the Mining Lasers? Both items in the Fitting tab only say high power slot, with no mention of turret slots either way.

Clarification appreciated

There are some mods that look like turrets, but not counted as turrets. I don't remember off hand, but I think salvagers and tractor beams are such. There might be others that I have not run across.

So does a strip miner count as a tractor beam rather than a laser? I know everyone wants an Orca around, meanwhile I'm not even sure what a tractor beam velocity increase even means ( and can't find anything on google )

There is no turret requirement for weapons in their fitting tab either, the only thing ever required is a high power slot even for turrets and launchers.
Unless it is somewhere else in the weapons info window that I didn't see.

Edit: strip miners are mining barge only, and tractor beam velocity is the speed at which it attracts items toward you, a TB1 has a 500m/s velocity and a TB2 has a 600m/s velocity.
Capital tractor beams are 6 time faster than their smaller counterparts.

Well one of the few things I do know is I can't load a third laser on my venture because it only has 2 hardpoints, at least that's what it tells me.

No, no, no, what I mean is that for most high slot modules you will always see only a high slot being required in their fitting tab, be it weapons or not.
But for some you will need turret hardpoints, for some others you will need launcher hardpoints and for others you will need none of any, only a high slot.

That is unfortunate. Like when I bought my third laser I essentially lost money since I didn't know it wouldn't work there.

Follow the link and download the program in it.

It will allow you to fit and optimize ships as much as you want without having to spend a dime.

Then sell it back.
And unless you bought high end lasers right off the bat it is virtualy insignificant, with easily more than 1 million ISK per cargo hold in ore value you will be able to not see the difference.

Quite a few ships has "utility highslots" like the Venture does. You have one or more highslots you can place something that is not a weapon in. It can be a salvager, tractor beam, smartbomb, auto targeter etc.

Mining lasers are turrets, you need turret hardpoints to fit them.
Strip miners are not turrets, you can fit them in any highslot (but only on specific ships).
The tractor beam velocity bonus does exactly what it says: increases the speed with which tractor beams pull wrecks/containers.
