So I sat down to play Eve a few days ago and noticed that it was downloading a patch. I left for a bit and came back to find that my PC was frozen about halfway through the actual application of the patch. I restarted my computer and noticed that the entire system was extremely slow, even after several restarts without Eve being run at all. I uninstalled Eve and my system speed seems normal, but now the Windows Aero feature randomly turns off a few moments after startup, along with the Windows wireless network service. Both stop together, (whatever is doing this is affecting them both at the same time) leaving me without my wireless connection. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Eve, but the same thing happens every time.

I've run tests on my hard drive and memory, and both have checked out just fine. I'm running Win 7 64 bit with 8 gigs of ram and an i7-2600k processor. So far, my rig has passed every test I've given it, including a thorough benchmark. I simply cannot install this patch without it making my PC go nuts.

Any thoughts?

I've also tried the repair tool, to no avail. I even tried deleting the common.ini file before using the tool, but it just locks up my computer. As a test, I uninstalled, restarted, and reinstalled one of my other games, and the installation went fine, so I really don't think this is my hard drive being iffy.
