not to take anything away from that persons donation... but to say isk=time is b*llsh*t.. some people have more time to play than others.

their amount is an amazing one.. no one can argue that. but to say they deserve a special monument to their act detracts from the act of GIVING.. did they donate or put down money for monuments and recognition?
if you think they deserve one.. then you and players who think likewise should band together and make it.. stop asking CCP for your special snowflakes

Well it looks like some nay sayers aren't getting the value here.

1 Trillion ISK represents time, since it takes loads of it to attain that kind of in game wealth, as well as around 28 thousand RL dollars if Plex was exchanged for ISK.

Eve is about making a lasting mark in a game. If a player has the generosity to donate that much, they should certainly have a memorable mark in this game, even if it's a silly question, like "Hey, you donated a great deal, what can we do for you?" If it's reasonable, you make it work! Just ask him, what he wants? He may have just wanted to help, and that was enough!

But, to think all donations are the same, is foolish. ISK is time!

I'm all for players getting to make a lasting mark in the game, if you did some notable deed in-game and even then I'd err on the side of caution. With this action he didn't do any such thing. I know it might seem strange, but I really do want to keep the game clean of out of game influences and references as much as possible. If any such influences are to be had, it should be extremely rare and totally undetectable for a new player to the game.

CCP could make a special type of POCO for these such monuments. But instead of taxing PI, it would set the tax at highsec stations. We could erect it in Amarr, and anyone who controls it could set the station tax somewhere between 0-100%.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

Who?

Also, no.

EDIT: actually, that's a lot of money. I have no trouble with this, as this is typically how donors of massive amounts of cash are rewarded. It only makes sense for it to be the same in-game. CCP has two roles. One is to maintain and arbitrate the sandbox. The other role is to be the hand within the glove of otherwise lifeless NPC entities. A monument outside a Food relief station seems entirely appropriate, but IMO should be dedicated to all capsuleers rather than as a specific monument to a single player. The monument itself could list those capsuleers such as Amarr Citizen 155 or those organizations that have donated extraordinary amounts.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

No. True altruists expect nothing in return, and no one should shame them by suggesting that the altruist be rewarded.

This is not a bad idea, but everyone who donates should be listed:

Luke 21:1-4 1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury. 2 And he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. 3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all: 4 for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had.

Why should only the rich be honoured?

I think you guys have a good idea.

Make a monument that lists every donor in order of isk, or in this case plex. It could be like a bounty office, but for donations. Furthermore, it could be dynamically updated for ongoing charity events CCP could do.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

They've already made a memorable mark by doing what they are doing.

One thing to consider, a lot of people that give things to help others don't want any recognition, usually a simple thank you is good enough.

I think some people here misunderstand the meaning of charity. If you are donating in the hopes of getting some in-game item or public recognition for your selfless act, you are doing it wrong.

Thanks to a friend for pointing me to this thread.

Let's just keep our eyes on the prize and hit 1T in donations. We'll all remember how much we were able to contribute to the cause and we'll all feel warm and fuzzy inside because of it.

I appreciate the suggestion but remember that I already have a system named after me "Amarr". The only thing I need at this point is for people to donate so we can hit 1T.

You have to love the Code. people thinking that nothing in high-sec should happen without their approval, lol.

He really should have a monument. It adds to the mystery and allure of the world. Haven't you ever sat down on bench in a park and wondered who the name was on the plaque below you?

Can't say I have, the name usually refers to some dead person.

What does this have to do with altruism? Or "true altruism" for that matter?

Keep in mind that CCP is already rewarding everyone with avatar shirts that they can turn around and sell for more isk if they want. Are they now "shamed?"

If you don't already know the answer to those questions, nothing that I or anyone else can say would have any meaning for you.

I'm guessing the 155th Amarrian to be renamed for a worse name?

I agree, we should have a monument of James 315 in every high sec system, or at least Halaima.

Once you give the player anything it is no longer a donation. For example if I "donated" a trillion isk and a monument was named after me "trillion isk ain't that much nowawdays" that means I just purchased a trillion isk monument of myself.
