I have to admit over these past two weeks... it's nice being a capsuleer. I remember the first time I went into the capsule: I was nervous that I'd suffer from wet grave or mind-lock. however, after I got into the capsule for the first time, I felt free for the first time. truly free. I'm not going to lie, I have in missions killed a fair amount of people... but as unfortunate as that is, this sort of thing happens. I just hope I don't grow to actually enjoy killing... I just view it as a means to an end, with said end being making ISK.

Give the young man a break, Ava. We all had to start somewhere. At least he's not going on about a wrong that needs righted or how he's gonna clean up the corruption in the system. Or bite the heads off puppies.

I woke up this morning as well, quite abruptly so when I stumbled out of my hammock and fell down into a stream.

Welcome to space dude, don't let the whole capsuleer thing get to your head though.

I got into this with the intention to promote peace and love. I never thought I'd end up fighting as much as I do now, but fight for a cause. I've got something I want to keep safe now, and I won't hesitate to pull the trigger to keep things safe. I found that the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Fly free.

Captain Tasogare, you ought to look up the public bio of a capsuleer named Scherezad. It is a poem.

I think it's the sort of poem you ought to be reading.

I've read it, and interpreted it as a call for honesty. So many pilots try - in vain - to rationalize their body count and shift the blame. I know I'm guilty of that one.

Frankly, it's refreshing to see the brutal honesty of the statement "I've killed for money, but I don't really care. So long as I don't actually enjoy it I'm probably doing okay." that's an attitude to admire, I think - we're never going to accomplish anything if we wallow in self-hatred and doubt.

Capsuleers are killers. Whether we're arms merchants making money off the industry of war, or the soldiers, mercenaries and commanders doing the actual fighting, or a hybrid of both, we live on death. If you can't tolerate that fact, you shouldn't be a capsuleer. If you can, then own up to it and remain brutally, uncomfortably aware of it. It may not make you feel very good about yourself, but I'd personally prefer to be honest and faintly guilty than comfortable in my delusion and denial.

Unless, as in legends, your tears can restore the dead to life, it makes ultimately very little difference whether you cry your eyes out or laugh coldly at the dead left in your wake.

To the dead it makes no difference at all, that's true.

To one's own self it's important, and to the living, it might make all the difference in the worlds.

thank you stitcher. i'm not gonna delude myself thinking I'm some "hero". our buisiness is war for the most part. whether it be small or big. the only ones i can think of that don't do such things are explorers and even then that's a big if. besides, it's human nature to fight, is it not? that being said, i don't enjoy killing, far from it. i feel the guilt, but i slog on through it. the day where fighting isn't needed anymore is the day I gladly will hang up my Drake, and turn to more peaceful pursuits.

That's decent honesty, Tasogare.

Unfortunately, the capsuleer's business is always war.
Even the most humble industrialist or explorer indirectly arms ships and feeds troops.

There are no saints here, only a myriad of excuses... ISK, nationalism, religion, racism, slavery... stick around, I'm sure you'll work your way through them all.

The pilot who has disregard for all those who mean nothing to him will suffer being blindsided by those he gave improper acknowledgement. The best way to protect yourself and what is important to you is through an expanded awareness, not by disregard. Space s a big place, but not so big our mind can not conceptualize it. Prioritize and be adaptable. Never be an easy kill, unless it has strategic merit. Situational awareness is the key to unlock the doors to success. In my humble opinion.

I'm not so short-sight that I wouldn't keep an eye on potential threats and disregard things other than those precious to me. and I firmly believe in the concept of adapting to new situations,

We have all seen mighty alliances fall due to one dishonest member.

Honesty is the most valuable thing in all of EVE.

It might not always save you, but the lack of it is always fatal.
