Greetings from the Open University of Celestial Hardship [0UCH] and thank you for joining us in our Fall Fundraising Drive. OUCH is a non-profit corporation and is currently seeking donations to support our mission of providing Null Sec Survival and Basic PvP Training to members the Eve community.

Open University [OUCH], a member of Art of War Alliance [AWA], is New Eden's premier null security space survival training organization. Like Agony Unleashed and Eve University, OUCH teaches formal classes to capsulers looking to further their education. Call it Scouting 101, or Boot Camp, or Basic Training, whatever you prefer. At the completion of our course a student should have all the basic skills necessary to travel safely in low and null security space, as well as high security space under wartime conditions.

Since the development of our formal training program in December of 2010, OUCH has taught survival skills to over 1000 students. Approximately 200 pilots have completed our formal survival and basic combat program to receive their OUCH graduation medal. Some of these OUCH alumni fly with large alliances, like The Initiative, TEST and Goonswarm. Some fly with the smaller pvp corporations like Dirt Nap Squad, Appetite 4 Destruction and Agony Unleashed.

OUCH membership is open: There are no minimum or maximum skill point requirements. There are no api checks. We require our members to fly the ships they are authorized to fly and complete the course in 90 days. We do not funnel our graduates into any particular corporation. We teach anyone who asks to be trained, for absolutely nothing.

That's right. There are no student fees. We provide this service to the next generation as payback for what was taught to us by our own teachers and mentors. We believe in Paying It Forward.

OUCH has always survived financially through donations by student and staff and by minimizing our losses. We can keep our operations going, but we could do much more with your help.

So we've come today to ask our fellow capsulers to please donate to Open University of Celestial Hardship [0UCH] to help us continue to provide low cost, null security survival and basic combat training to the Eve Community.

Today, replacement ships for student losses in null sec are provided by Open University, but it is rare for an instructor to get compensated for his loss. Most OUCH pilots are completely self-sufficient, working on their own time to afford the losses they take in null combat. We use the modules looted from the wreck of our adversaries to fit our own ships, living off the land. We do well, but we could do much more.

Your donation, in ships, modules or cash, will be used to improve OUCHs limited ship replacement program and bring more advanced ships, modules and ammunition out to our null sec base. Your donation will allow OUCH instructors to expand our military and training operations to cover more days and more time zones. Your donation will help provide more student events to encourage more players to come out and learn that null sec is not as scary as it seems.

As a reminder, your donation is completely tax deductible, or at least, it will be when CCP institutes an income tax. Smile

If you are interested in supporting OUCH with a donation, please donate ISK directly to Open University of Celestial Hardship. If you would like to donate ships, modules, ammunition or other consumables to OUCH, please do so via a free contract to The Pawn Shop [PAWN.], also of Art of War Alliance. Please note in your contract remarks that it is a Donation to OUCH and they will process it appropriately.

Thank you for reading this solicitation. If you have any questions about Open University, our program, or this fund drive, please join the OUCH-UNI channel and an instructor should be available to help you.

Sincerely,

Bren Genzan

This is Definitely worth doing.

Like most things in eve you don't know what you are missing until someone shows you a much better way.

In going through their training courses they never asked me for a single thing - other than to show up and fly their fit.

It has a simple objective: Kill-more, Die Less.

It's not the be and do all of PvP in EVE and it does not claim to be. It is very well focused on a) how to survive alone in unfriendly null systems and make it home to your base; b) small fleet actions (where you have a much more noticeable effect in the overall battle) and c) everything you need to know about bubbles.

It also balances theory - hi-sec 'this is how you do it' with practice navigating around various null systems in a time trial and PVP in small fleet actions.

Kill-board says the training works.

I was fortunate to stumble across OUCH soon after I started playing EVE three months ago. To a newbie, no amount of ISK was more valuable than the time and dedication that OUCH people put to their students. They cared about my progression -- took notice of my stupid mistakes and my triumph moments, they really did!

Now as a fledgling Operations member, I'm looking forward to "pay it forward", while continuing to learn about null pvp with like-minded people in OUCH.

Please help us spreading the word!
Also consider a donation if you like our mission Big smile.

Many new players join, and they are so green that main income for them is from lvl1 missions and a bit mining,But those who join they are brave more than many players that never entered null sec.

We help them as much we can ,and tbh there is no better payback you can get than looking how those new ppl have blast playing in null.

We are not doing some crazy stuff ,training is basic and we are leading them to null and showing them even so new they can tackle some nasty ships and ruin their day.

There is always gigle on TS when they ask "how can I harm someone with this small ship".In few weeks you see them exploring Curse and running away from hot drops ,tackling battleships ,simply they have loads of fun.It is rare that we have negative feedback ,but you cant please all ,but all feedback is good and we always try to adapt to new ppl.

Helping OUCH is helping null sec getting more ppl willing to live there, willing to be part of many stories that come from that dangerous space. In same time those ppl will have some basic knowledge how to navigate trough null and be on path to become good pilots.

Join us in our Fall Fund Drive. We're not rich. Gevlon and Somer have all the money. We're not big. Eve Uni and Brave Newbies dwarf us. We're not powerful. We live in NPC null sec and we're not in Wanna Be Big As Goonswarm Coalition.

We're just a bunch of seasoned players trying to teach new players and veteran carebears that life in null and low sec doesn't have to be scary.

Spread the word that Open University of Celestial Hardship provides a community service to anyone that wants to use it. All they have to do is ask.

I'd like to thank all of the people who have donated to OUCH so far. We haven't received billions of ISK, but every little bit counts. Big smile

And even if you don't have the ISK to donate, go ahead and send high sec dwelling friend a link to OUCH's Forum and we'll see if we can help them with the challenges of low and null sec. Smile

Happy Veteran's Day from Open University of Celestial Hardship. We're proud to bring some of our military traditions and values into our community service in New Eden.

Help us out, or tell your friends about us.

I'd just like to add a call for all those people camping CursePirate to throw in a few ISK.

If it wasn't for OUCH training up noobs like me then corps like RAZOR and PC-X would have slimmer pickings.
What would you do if lowsec/nullsec was empty? hmm?

Give now and look forward to an xmas bonanza.Big smile

I'd like to thank all the people who donated to OUCH over the last month or so: We didn't raise our goal, but we did get enough isk to keep our students in frigates for the rest of the year, and then some.

Thank you for your support. Tell your friends that Open University is out there, teaching new players and veteran carebears that the game doesn't stop at 0.5 space.

Big smile
