Posting while drunk is what isn't very intelligent. Flaming a drunk rant is just trolling someone who did something stupid. *shrug*

And as to your real issue, a Goon telling you to leave an ice belt. The only law in Eve is what someone can enforce. The Goon guy can't force you to leave the belt, they can only persuade you to leave the belt or try and blow you up. If they do try to blow you up, bring friends and blow him up instead. Either way, he didn't force you to leave the belt, he asked you to and you meekly complied.

Instead of complaining that the Goons control Gallente ice (or anything else for that matter), fight back. It's a sandbox game, you can do anything that the Goons can do; the difference is between the people that decide to take charge and the people that meekly accept it and cry to CCP that nothing changes while they're sitting on their butts.

TL;DR: Sandbox game is working as intended

Sounds easy enough, I guess ill just fight back every time the goons give me an order. I accepted, because fighting back in that particular situation would mean one thing, and one thing only, losing my mackinaw, while not even putting a dent in their operation, but thanks for the advice man!

If I wanted to "fight back" this situation isn't the time or the place to do it.

Edit: and whats wrong with posting drunk? I'm not here to keep up some respectable image in a video gaming community, im here to play a damn game and make some damn money.

And no I'm not going to other systems to mine freaking ice. If i did that it would take me about a month to pay off buying a mackinaw, when I can do lvl 4's and 5's, or wormhole crap, and buy one in a day or two. EXCUSE ME for enjoying mining ice while it was actually making..ya know...money.

I love how there is no middle ground. Carebears want PVP banned entirely (in combat, marketing, sovereignty, every aspect of players competing with other players) except in designated areas. No one should be allowed to play the game how they want to! That's unfair for other players, it keeps them from playing how they want to! See the circle, here?

Let me resort to a cliche: THIS. IS. NOT. WOW. In Eve, EVERY AREA IS FREE-PVP. If you don't ******* like that, don't play the game.

I don't like being ganked, but when I am... I accept it. Because it's part of the game.

No one said get rid of pvp, I have died many times living in low sec or in a wh now too, I honestly don't give a damn how much I get blown up if the risk is worth what I'm working on. I don't enjoy playing wow, but I am assuming you are talking to me. I wasn't even ganked, I was just told that I can't mine ice UNLESS I pay a fee that would totally outweight the point of mining the ice.

You don't seem to get it. While you've stated that your game is mining ice, our game is killing bots that mine ice, and players that think their ice mining along side many bots in Gallente space is fun, lucrative, or both.

I don't pretend to fathom why you would mine ice. You can't seem to understand why we'd kill you, despite linking an article that articulates it very clearly. I don't understand why you would post this in Features and Ideas discussion, unless you are lauding this effort as emergent gameplay, where suicide dread pirates compete against industrialists to make a dull activity more exciting, to further our own ends.

But that, really, is the question: why do we do this? Here's a smattering of reasons, some or all of which might be lies:

-We just want you to suffer

-We're weeding out bots, so that actual ice miners smart enough to evade us or survive us can make a better margin

-We're driving up the margins on the blue ice we mine (or our pet alliances mine) in our own space

-We're driving up oxygen prices, so that our secret allies, the space Russians, will be able to mine ice to fuel their capital ship fleets.

-We're driving up oxygen prices so our eternal enemies, Intrepid Crossing, will be forced to perform this awful, hateful activity

-We're just killing you because it's lucrative to kill miners, between loot, insurance, and our bounties for kills, it's profitable and interesting

-We're killing you because this will magically make you want to come to 0.0

-We're driving up oxygen because Gallente reaction POS use Ice for T2 material production, and this fucks up their margins

-We're bored, and this is a target rich environment

-We're driving prices up so that we can sell and make a killing because our top end bought up large stockpiles before we did this.

-We're doing extensive testing on the viability of a Gallente based fleet doctrine

-We're driving up oxygen to prohibitively raise the operating expenses of Gallente capital ships, especially the Nyx, in line with the philosophy of death to all super caps.

-We're altruistically trying to convince ice miners to quit EVE in favor of a better activity.

-This is a test program for other bot elimination bits for CCP, who is secretly funding this whole activity. Technetium isn't actually that profitable.

All of this should give you an idea about the emergent gameplay wonders which might be driving this campaign. Understand the magnitude of the sandbox of EVE, and how the interaction of any two players effects the larger world. Your death in your Mackinaw is part of experimental gameplay only possible in this sort of unique game.

I think that this one is the lie. The only 'Gallente fleet doctrine' is to fit as many blasters and magstabs as possible and hope that your enemy is polite enough to fly into weapons range (and not tank for kin/therm).

Well, since EVE's economy isn't Communist, I think you're **** outta luck. You may not 'believe in it', but a bunch of other people do -- whether it's margin traders taking money from other traders or pirates preying on carebears.

I just won't do it myself, I'll find a way to obtain my isk the hardest way possible if I have to, but I won't just take someone elses.

Sorry, but I can't agree with goonswarm destroying the economy... They just made a little crysis in some fields.

No action should be taken by ccp... EVER. Unless ccps business or clients are personally targetted. RL-threats and stuff should be delt with if they take place, but as long as the kids play within the sandbox, everything is working as intended.

I have an idea for you.

You want to stop Goon swarm?

Build an alt.

Apply to join Goonswarm.

Get in all buddy buddy with the high brass of the chain of command.

Make sure they give you executive control over their financial operations.

ROB...
THEM...
BLIND!!!

It is called being a Wallet Pirate. It is a VERY common tactic in EVE. Entire alliances have been annihilated with just a few clicks of the mouse. Take down the internal infrastructure and you doom them to failure.

It will probably take at least a year or two but...

... revenge and the theft of trillions is well worth it.

Confirming that this is the real reason. Everything else you've read is smoke and mirrors.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.
