It does if you want to provide the same kind of bonuses.

I just want to give the finger to the dip **** at CCP who decided changing the Absolution to the Harbinger hull was a good idea. Yeah, @#$% you. Since 2006 on my main account, I created an Amarr for one purpose alone, and that was to pilot that beautiful bird with maximum effectiveness. Needless to say, I kind of feel pissed on with those years of training and purpose in the pot. But wah wah QQ whatever STFU.

Sold the character, using my more "all-encompassing" account now. Doesn't mean I won't miss him, and those glory days spent in the beautiful (Prophecy) Absolution. I feel the OP's pain. Now with that said, I always thought the Hurricane would make a damn fine command ship hull, but I can't say the same for the others. All in all, wasn't worth it to me, but everyone's going to have a different opinion.

As childish as it is I seriously doubt I'll be setting foot in an Absolution again. The Harbinger didn't exist when I fell in love with the Absolution and while I do feel the Harbinger has an interesting look it is not appropriate to make such a significant change with a classic and revered hull. That goes for all of the CS, Sleipnir be damned.

This is the 3rd time classic Amarr vessels have undergone a change in personality. Restore the Curse's 3rd engine and antenae, restore the Geddon to its former glory as the 1b to the Mega's 1a in the realm of Eve's finest turret boats (a thousand old school 10k dps no-stacking Geddons for the person that made this decision), and freaking fix the Absolution.

CCP should've realized that much of a ship's iconography comes from its model.

I kinda prefer the Harb hull over the Prophecy hull myself P
Previous Absolution looks like big fat red angry Evil chicken.

I don't have much complain on the hull changes ( I can fly all 4 of them ) except the Nighthawk. Ugh

The awesomeness of the Ferox model, together with Nighthawk sweet2 stats literally made me stick to the game when I joined, and I literally count the days on when I can switch to it from my Drake. It's my very first long term goal in Eve!

It's just like after scoring that girl you always dream of, married her and few years later her parents said no you not supposed to get her, here have her ugly sister instead.

Oh at least I still got the Absolution... P

Imo, in a perfect world, the roles of the Harb and Prophecy would be reversed. The harb's design is more befitting a drone boat as it resembles a carrier. It looks like a barge. The Prophecy would be the turret-based bc because it looks like a bird. It's aerodynamic. But whatever. It isn't that way and you've got to accept that someone else thought the reverse was more appropriate even if it seems totally counterintuitave to you. Seeing the new Absolution for the first time seriously tested my equanimity. I'm more than happy to say I'm not a fan. I'm anti-drone so I can't use the t1 prophecy hull (not without loading it full of gallente tech - my sworn enemy) and now the t2 turret version is gone. There are no turret-based prophecy hulls left in the game and if you complain people just gang up on you for being passionate about it.

I'm not even sure why the Prophecy hull originally appealed to me, why it had such a strong influence on why I chose to be Amarrian, or why I care so much about it being devalued. Thinking about it, I believe it goes all the way back to seeing "Hawk" in the Buck Rogers series as a child and his Bird of Prey ship. I guess that iconic imagery left its mark because I do feel pretty strongly about this. But that's what happens. You turn your back for five seconds and your least-favorite activity in the game (freighter hauling) is made worse, and your favorite ship hull is made useless. What can you do but state your opposition and move on?

I could go either way. I like the new Absolution, I like the old one too. What really gets me, what I really want to see is the return of the proper solid black Khanid color scheme on the Damnation and all the rest. The best way to fix this controversy is to have mk1, mk2 etc. editions. Why not? Give us the freedom of choice! Is it some jovian magic that causes all hulls of a certain type to transform overnight? No I say! Give us all legacy hulls now!

Yes because EVE is really a game of second life in space and ships are like pieces of jewelry. I get my ships not for stats but for looks, because i have issues.

Looks matter, but stats always comes on the decision to fly ships. When you stop using ships because they look different, then you are playing EVE wrong. My very humble opinion.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It really is slap in the face from CCP to many, no matter how you look at it or CCP sits back in their offices saying "Meh, they'll get over it."

What the @#$%, really? You spend YEARS training in this game, defining your character through your choices and your actions, and you choice of ship is just a part of that, but a HUGE part of that. I bet none of us here could begin to count how many people out there chose the role of their character, indeed the entire life of that character, based on the purpose and design (yes, that means aesthetics) of a hull that hit them "just right". This is a game about space ships, a game equally for those with a passionate love for star ships and space. If this were a game about freight trucks, or train engines, your going to have to people play it with the intent of simulating something (a certain make and model) that they've always wanted to do. This game, albeit a little more exotic, is no different.

Edit: If your entire post was sarcastic, then you can just disregard the above. I can't really tell one way or the other.

Well I can at least say that I've enjoyed in the 24 hours since discovering another Prophecy hull has been destroyed, this newfound revelation that my EVE character may be based on some childhood memories from a tv program I can barely even remember watching as a kid. Some of my earliest memories are of watching classic sci-fi like original battlestar galactica and buck rogers with my older brothers who both were sci-fi nuts. They say your entire personality is shaped during your formative years. I guess it's true. "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" aired on NBC from 1979-1981 which means I would've been 5-8 when it aired. It isn't something I've thought about in years but when I looked at the similarities I had to laugh at myself a little. A case can probably be made that I've subconsciously tried to recreate Hawk from that series by gravitating toward Amarr characters and Prophecy hulls. I'm thinking now that this has probably influenced my game since day one. Pretty funny. A Harb just isn't going to cut it.

I'm going to chime in on the feedback of my peers on this, whomever decided to remodel the Abso to look like a Harbinger made a very bad decision, and should feel very bad for doing so.

Before...hotness

After. Distinctly not-so-hot.

If you really wanted to align to T1 hulls, replace the ugly-as-F Harby hull with the original (and gorgeous) Abso hull, not the other way around FFS.

F U too buddy, damnation is a fatass chubby hull, harbinger is a space-shark.
