So I've been looking at the model for the Nestor that Fozzie showcased at EVE down under, and I have to say that it's starting to really grow on me- I didn't like it at all at first, because I had created an idea for it already and posted it myself (see here), but I've started to look past my own vision now and I have to say, this Nestor is great!

The Sisters of EVE Battleship "Nestor"

Everyone's complaining about the ring being at the front of the ship, and I was at first too, but thinking about it more, it makes a lot more sense for something as large as a battleship to be "pulled" more than "pushed". I really want that to stay the way it is, because it makes sense and gives it a look that really reminds me of Space Odyssey 2001 (I see what you did there).

I thought it looked kind of fragile at first, but looking more closely and looking at the top view, that really isn't the case.

Now I'm just looking forward to seeing its slot layout/bonuses/drone capabilities!

I bet it'll be something like 5-6-8 or 6-6-8 or 5-7-8 for the slots, and it'd be amazing to have it be able to carry, say.. 800m3 of drones, maybe even being able to field more than five at a time? For a pirate drone battleship, I think that could almost be reasonable.

Also, the low mass will be fun- It'll warp much more quickly and not collapse WHs

And on that note, this thing had better be able to defend itself from sleepers in that case- maybe make sleepers not target its drones? haha

I see this having a more interesting connection with the Sleepers/Architects and maybe even the Jovians in the long run, seeing its namesake and what the SoE do. Nestor, in the Odyssey, sacrificed to and worshiped Jove: maybe this means something??Big smile

Regardless of anything, I love the design now- good work Asgeir Jon Asgeirsson, and thanks, CCP, for making EVE even more fun!

Confirming Nestor is indeed a sexy ship. To me, it's the first proper looking spaceship. Unique, elegant, futuristic, and built in a mysterious way and shape that many do not understand....and shouldn't understand. I like it that way.

Please don't much this mode, up CCP. Leave it as is!

Exactly \o/ A lot of people are asking to move the ring to the back of the ship, but that'd just make it look like an oversized Stratios- it has to be unique, and the current design is really great IMO.

A ring in the front makes it look really retro-futuristic, like space odyssey or something. It looks like a space station or something, and having it be an amazing drone boat would make a lot of sense with this design.

Woah, that really looks interesting! Can't wait to see some stats!

They had a 'hidden' Nestor in SiSi, which was basically a Rattlesnake with a different model. I think a Rattle with lasers and armor tank could be lots of fun to play with!

That one is the placeholder for it in the game database- it's still there. It has a placeholder model (which was also used for the dragoon last year) and stats identical to the Rattlesnake's, to make it have SOME stats to hold it's place until they design the real thingBig smile

I see its having a SMA and a clone bay as being a step towards being a mini-carrier: maybe we will see it having a bonus to drones deployed, making it a sentry carrier with guns and clonesBig smile

- I think it would look better if the ring and the vertical 'wings' were flipped fore and aft. The ship would retain everything cool that it currently has.

Maybe someone out there could mock it up? Smile

Half of the ship looks great, the other half has me screaming "WHY?!!?"

I'm hoping for 125 mbit bandwidth and +1 drone controlled per level of Amarr Battleship. So it couldn't be an OP 10-sentry BS, but it could use 10-drone swarms of mediums and lights.

edit: Oooo, and bonuses to logi drones! Tanky, BS-sized logi mini-carrier support. I would so fly that!
