Graphs

I've always been a market geek. I love the numbers and graphs. Then i come across clearly skewed graphs that don't assist me at all.

The reason this data is presented to me is because someone acquires a product, then places it back on the market adding a few zeroes behind the actual market price, in hopes to make several million.

Is this how normal markets work? Do the graphs RL corps present to each other really include these attempts to cheat others?

Gas this month shows a trend of $3.25/gallon, but Mike set his price at $3,250.00/gallon, we should definitely include this data in tomorrows graphs as real data right?... except it's not, its a scam.

Can i get an on off switch for things like donchian channel so the graphs presented to me will accurately show purchased and sold prices?

In a great deal of cases I'm presented a graph with a range of 0.00M to 750.00M. When the line i'm paying attention to is in a range is from 0.00M to 7.50M. It moved down 1 pixel 10 days ago. Let's try to figure out what that means.

When the graphs presented include someone's scam attempts as actual real data, how is one supposed to play the market?

I started playing eve in 2003. The market hasn't changed much. I think it's about time we see some upgrades.

Sourced graph: Region: Metropolis, Time: Month, Item: Mammoth (one item of many that show this market data failure)

The graphs show the actual transaction values, not the values people list them. The reason you see some odd values every once in a while is because some people make mistakes with zeroes and such.

I've heard that CCP omits outliers from the results, but I'm not too sure about that, or how many standart deviations they consider to be an outlier.

I've made a signature. I hope you're enjoying it. www.evetrademaster.com - web based asset manager & profit tracker

The donchian channel, and min/max I usually have turned off.

Also, you can copy paste the history table, and make your own graphs :)

Most often it's not mistakes but people who attempt to hide market manipulations o sharp declines in markets they have a lot of stocks invested into.

To overcome it, go to the options and as Rhivre says, start disabling the various indicators till you find the one that is causing the anomalous rescale.

Better yet, download my software and make real charts. It's free of course.

Right click the graph.

This is definitely true. I've done some experiments, and the graphs and history will exclude at least some outliers.

But OP certainly has a point. Markets are a central part of this game, and set it apart from all the other MMOs. It would be wonderful to see an expansion which gave them some loving. Fo example, let us play around with the parameters in the price history/graphs a little more. Or any of the numerous other feature suggestions which have been suggested in MD.

First rule of EVE UI, right-click everything. EVERYTHING. Pretty much every square inch of your screen contains something that has a right-click functionality.
