It's part of EvE's history. EvE emerged in a time where MMO's weren't commonplace, and terms weren't solidified yet. Hence you can run in namings unique in eve, or having a different meaning.

The Biomass Yourself is eve's variant of *delete yourself* referring to the biomass(delete) button when you remove a char.
