We can theory-craft this all day but its just a lot simpler to fit a heavy nuet, drain the inties, blow them up and leave...

You lose about 700dps overall from your mega gang but you gain the ability to skip all this crap.

Edit: I didn't make this all up, I was a big fan of Garmon, read a lot of his stuff and a few other great battleship small gang / solo guys.

You don't fit a heavy neut onto the mega, you bring either a geddon or a BS with a utility slot.

what is this teamwork

In another thread, I asked Infinity if he's actually ever been in a fleet fight before.

I got my answer in the last 5 pages or so.

Still laughing about the 5 Crows vs 5 Megas assertion, too. Never heard an FC call for scatter, I take it? I'm almost tempted to label him an EFT warrior.

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Best Meltdown Ever.

I like battleships. You undock in one and all the flashy red guys either leave or explode.

So.. battleships (supposedly) can't track interceptors... wasn't it established that even capship guns can blap frigates because sooner or later they always end up moving directly towards or away from at least ONE of them? Or how about those 25 Warrior IIs.. which constitute only 1/3 of the drone capacity of those Megathrons? Crows can hold off the Warrior II DPS long enough to kill a battleship?

Yeah, not buying it. "I wardecc'd people in highsec!"

I bet those people had FANTASTIC coordination between their battleships too. "I killed some inexperienced highsec pilots in wardecs, therefore it always works!"

I have to agree with you to some extent OP.

Battleships are still good, but the warp changes were a bit much.

I already figured out how to get one of the mega hulls to warp as fast as an assault frigate.

Btw, IZ, do you know what a Mega can do that a Proteus can't?

On a more serious note...BS's are one my favorite ships to fly among the stars with. Very skill intensive but under the right circumstances is unmatched in its capabilities.

You Sir, have clearly not attacked a dread in your BS then :)

Meaning what? He did say "under the right circumstances"

Everyone is always repeating the mantra "Don't Trust Anyone" ad nauseum... If I can't trust the guys I play with, why bother playing with them at all? Fly Solo...

It wasn't that long ago that dread sized guns were picking off mwding cruisers and webbed frigates.

Lol. If you want to trade 100 dps for the ability to cap out your enemy please feel free. A fleet of mega's with 1 nuet each vs a fleet of megas with only blasters is going to wtf pwn the latter.

I thought you said comparing it to fleet fighting was wrong.. Wasn't this about solo?

Its a strawman anyway, its just there for us to tear it down. Not only have battleships always been slow, 5 megas by themselves suffer from a critical inability to lock targets before they escape and always have, which means a 5 man pure mega formation has never been a likely choice.

The assertion that 5 megas with neuts will win is also pretty poor, because those neuts are almost certainly going to be running against cap boosters, and the neut boats will lose the first ship through having the least dps, and the opposition are likely to be able to jetcan boosters to each other in order to share their capacitor against the neuts.

A formation with 4 megas and 1 geddon however, has the distinct advantage of being more likely to reach a logistics cruiser with the geddons neuts, and also if it does reach the logistics cruiser with its neuts, its going to reach it with _all of them at once_ which is also a highly desirable trait.

What about five spidertanking dominixes with drone assist

The Raven is now my second choice BS because it is so much fun to fly and its very deadly to smaller ships now.

You can smell the stench of L2P post when you get as argument for the idea sentences that use I, me, my, mine, and any sort of reference to the person without any generalization factor included. E.g.: "I used to X" stench of L2P. "I used to see people doing X" can be actually worth reading.

Its more of a case of EFT warriors with very little flight time in these ships vs people who fly the ships day in day out for years.

Well, inexperient people usually DO KNOW they are inexperienced, as it is an absolute condition.
Knowledge on the other hand is still a relative condition.

You can do something for years, get very experienced, and still have no clue of what you are missing.

In all honesty there are only two things I can think of that I haven't done with a mega and that black ops and capital fleets. The only reason I haven't done them is simply down to the fact that CCP Foz has yet to give me a jump drive to bolt onto my mega. I don't normally blow my own horn to this extent but I have a reputation for getting Megathrons to do what most think impossible.

IZ does not have the in game experience and has a reputation of getting it wrong and refusing to admit it. Their argument so far relies upon EFT numbers which in all honesty are near useless.
