I'm a wormhole newb. I mined up enough isk for a large pos, a month's worth of fuel, and some ships and just set up shop in the first C2 with a C1 static I could find.

And I'm having more fun and making more money than I ever had with this game.

You'll make at least as much isk running low level WH sites in a drake as you will running L4s in a tengu, and even though you're in a PvP environment the risk is nowhere near as high. Aside from combat sites, there is plenty of isk to be made from PI and gas mining as well.

And don't be afraid of the PvP. If you're in a C1/C2, the chance of dreads showing up and bashing your POS is about nil because the only way for them to be in there is for them to get built in there (and it's easy to find out if there are already dreads in a WH before you set up there). Once you're set up, it's your house - you'll have an intel advantage over anyone coming in. Yes, you'll get ganked but losing a drake or a venture here and there is not a big deal compared to the isk you'll be bringing in. And there will be plenty of opportunities for ganking people poking around in your space.

It can be huge fun - I tackled what I thought was a solo Loki with a Hurricane this evening and it turned out to be a Loki, two Proteus (Protei?), a Tengu, and two HICs...and by a small miracle I managed to get through the WH they'd just come through and start running and managed to bounce around between safes in their wormhole for 15 minutes until my log-out timer expired. Some of the most fun I've had in this game.

You're missing out if you let the PvP scare you off. Don't let that shiny Tengu ruin the game for you.

Stealing this from a post i saw a while back

"If you dont Pew in WHs you dont Jew in WHs"

Especially if you try to colonize a hole by yourself... people will see an easy target and murder you so join a corp and pvp with them hell if nothing else fly t1 cruisers(blackbirds are the freaking devil) and fast tackle.

If you have to go it solo and want to avoid PVP then Daytrip in c2s it only takes a drake to get started (especially if you use the mobile tractor to pull everything close then use your one high for a salvager)

Oh, Do go on... no seriously ive got nothing better to do then listen to all the petty arguments and feeble trolling attempts...

The sad thing is i'm not sure if i'm telling the truth.

Wormholes are fun, but PVP is 90% of it.

If you absolutely need to carebear and horde ships (no idea why- ISK doesn't mean crap), then find a corp to protect you.

Well I've just brought a tengu and I really don't want to lose it as I've only got 250m ISK left

And I can't get into incursions get so its back to grinding level 4 security missions.

If you have only 250M isk leftyou hould not even UNDOCK a tengu. Never undock a ship you cannot affort to replace unless youa re very sure you do not care for not being able to replace it.

Wormholes are a nice environment to learn small gang pvp, ganking, scanning, even if you are by yourself you can do stuff. I just hope you have more than one account. I assume you have an alt because how else will you run sites? Run one and then go salvage? Not only untimeconsuming but a very good way to become ganked, per se. Good luck otherwise. You never know what you will find if you just look and want to get a kill...

No I don't have any alts.

My solution to salvage might be to grab a depot and refit with salvagers.

Before you decide to live in WH you need to have at least 1 (scanning) alt (cloak frig). That is even more important than a POS.

If you just do daytripping don't use Tengu, use a Drake. Enough for C1 and C2 which are easy to reach from HiSec.

WH are fun like hell because of one good reason: you never know if you are alone or not. :) And if you know you are not alone, you never know how much are behind the guys you know are there.

I'm rather interested in wormholes, they seem an interesting concept and a good way to make ISK and to get into the more advanced aspects of the game without having to deal with null sec sovereignty.

However I really fearful about the pvp aspects of wormhole space. As a solo pvp I suck and I don't want to log in one day after spending all my money getting set up to find 5 dreads beating on my POS and me unable to do anything apart from attempt to bribe them be giving them stuff.

There are some pretty good suggestions in here, but I'll add my 2 cents anyway.

As far as getting Dread blapped, you dont have to worry about that in C4 or lower class WHs as they won't fit through the hole.

If all you have is a Tengu and 250M, do NOT fly your Tengu in WH space, especially as inexperienced as you are. Take a BC or a BS into a c1/c2 you should be able to solo just fine.

If you want to get a taste of Sleeper combat, but are worried about running an actual anom, try clearing a few Gas sites first, the rats are much easier, but will still neut/web you; additionally its safer to fly in a signature that you have to scan rather than an anomoly, you can watch Dscan for core probes which will give you more advanced warning of a gank.

As far as PvP goes, most WHers enjoy PvP, and will feel slighted if you dont at least show up to fight with something, but as a solo dweller if you just POS up its understandable, and more than likely wont get you envicted, maybe just some harsh words in local.

I'd say start out as a daytripper into WHs (plenty of C1s-C3s can be found in almost any area of k-space), and if you find you enjoy it, and you're saving some ISK, plop a tower into a lower class hole and move in.

Im a relatively low SP player, but I have a LOT of WH experience, so feel free to message me in game if you have other questions or wanna chat about WH space. Cheers o/

I think it is very cool that you admit that PVP is scary, but it's really no big deal getting blown up. The only big deal is getting blown up in something expensive.

Change your play style and fly cheaper ships with low cost implants to go on adventures with.

Use your Tengu to Mission in HS ...

A lot of nice people in this thread offering good advice.

All good advice, but - in my limited experience this is not something you can rely on as a rule. If the WH you're in has residents who are active, they've probably got every sig in the place scanned down already. They'll find you with Dscan and you may get no warning before the Proteus decloaks right next to you.

Stay aligned no matter what, you are never safe.
