If you (CCP)wish to make it more informative, allow players to add as many classifications as they chose. If you wish make it less, allow players to use some type of slider to decide which standings show up in which category.

In sov null space, upgrades could be used to reduce delays. IMHO local with max upgrades should be instant, at least for the residents, perhaps both sides?

But... But that would get rid of my 15pixel-wide local chat window! This is a travesty of justice!

All kidding aside, if local is used for intel, I agree to call it what it is: Intel. The rest of local is only used for griefing, smacking, spamming, scamming and trolling.

i personally think there shouldnt be "free" intel, one must Dscan to make sure your "safe" in low and null id expect you should have to look over your shoulder not just cloak up when you see local spike.

Spamming a button on Deepscan is not a player skill task, it's a bad interface mechanic that doesn't actually reduce lag due to how often some people will spam it and encourages bots to help spam it.
Lets just say you hit deepscan once every 10 seconds.
That means 6 every minute. Or 360 every hour. That is an RSI inducing level of activity.
And every 10 seconds means an interceptor can land on you after checking several anoms near you and you will only see them on landing most likely.

So 'free' intel sources that don't require player clicking constantly are actually a good thing. As they remove an advantage bots have over normal players.
However, the way you balance them is to make them require skill points for best results.
As I've mentioned in a few threads, if deepscan gave significantly less information and just told you 'There is a cruiser somewhere out in 'that 90' arc' at '5-10 AU' it would be a lot more uncertain, you couldn't rely that the cruiser is your friend in the other anom unless you are in constant voice chat and know they haven't warped to the station to repair, or drop loot. You also wouldn't know exactly what was waiting for you places, though you would know how many & ship size, but not the exact ship make, so people would be guessing setups a lot more often.

I like it, nice and simple and informative.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

the OPs image is a good idea but id be somewhat against the one for LOCAL, keep it region/constilation that way there will still be some information but you will also be on your toes, casue we all know most of the time local is just used to you know to GTFO when your semi-afk ratting with a sentry carrior or something

yeah, afk cloaking needs a buff. we really should let one person with one character effect a whole group of systems, all while sleeping/working/showering/watching a movie in the other room

fix that and i'd agree tho

Good point, but on the other hand system-only info soulds more reasonable because it's just an interface thing (you already have access to that very information using nothing but game client).

On the other hand, constellation/region-wide numbers aren't bad idea, although I'd add some tweaks. I'll make a thread and post a link to this one there.

Edit: Here it is. Enjoy.

I'm all for it being improved by upgrades, but don't think it should be required. I think improving the speed which the numbers update would be best.
