Just hear me on this please. The Mittani is ran by the Grr Mittens but they have some great writers on that site who do good articles on eve related things and as well other games. Yes it has stuff about goons but once you get pass that its pretty well done stuff written by mostly sane people.

Sperg - is that goon speak for some thing or other?

Whenever I see ggon speak I always get a mental image of Mittens telling the new goonies, "now class, repeat after me, sperg, pubbie" etc Smile

Sperg is short for sperglord which is derived from Aspergers, which is a form of autism. Someone who feels the need to be correct and validate themselves by stating facts or truisms regardless of circumstance, despite being completely socially inept at gauging exactly how much of a nobgobbler this makes them.

See your post for reference.

It's a pretty offensive term, actually.

Really? If there's anything Goons hate it's being offensive.

And every time you click on a link loading that site you support it.

Since page exposure is a vital part of covering the costs of operating almost any site.

They do, but most of the non-goon stuff is available directly from the source(s).

Now, I don't have any issues at all with any of the people behind TMC nor Goons as such.

I had at least 2 Goons on my ballot for CSM (with Mynna as #2 after Uncle Stevie).

My problem is that Goons(tm) has spent so many years positioning themselves as Eve's #1 "undesirables" (there are other more colourful words for it but they're not suited for a high standard forum like this one).

We've been fed so much talk (aka posturing or even RP) about how we "pubbies" are such a sad little bunch of no importance and hints about our obvious lack of insight since we are, well, "pubbies".

And now we are somehow to believe that all that stuff from before was just "posturing and RP" and not at all related to how intelligent and well behaved those "New Goons" really are.

So no, I'll wait some more years before I buy this.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

You have been sadly misinformed. No matter how successful we are att Eve pubbies are still pubbies.

Why anyone would give up their IP to a site that can then use it for DDos attacks is probably not a good idea. Cool

Because its terribly hard to discover a persons IP address.. the only time IP shenanigans were perpetrated by an eve news site was actually EN24 when Riverini got buttmad at a former writer or something and doxxed the guy and published his real life details.

Kinda like when the democratic party published the home addresses of licensed firearms owners.

Not even math is certain all the time. I recommend "The Folly of Reason", if you want to have the notion of maths as infallible challenged.

Just look at string theory. You can 'prove' anything is true with maths and string theory. Doesn't mean it's right.

if you are talking about the paradoxes that were debated at length during the early 20th century, that's pretty old news.

the solution was to be very careful about your axioms and how you state your conclusions.

also, string theory is just a model. it's not really some sort of mathematical formula or theorem, it's something primarily the physicists are interested in...and like all physical theories, there's no proofs at all, just predictions, evidence and data. very different from math.

All right, touché on the paradoxes but although string theory is just a model, the maths is solid. But it's still ludicrous, unprovable rubbish.

Actually you can't prove anything with anything. That's fundamental. You merely test it over and over looking for results that would disprove it, and when you continue not to find disproving results you come to the likely conclusion that it is (whatever it is) very probably true.
