The 20% DPS boost from overheating makes thermodynamics mandatory on it's own.

Maybe it's that I fly drone ships and I can't overheat my drones. So zero dps boost.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Thanks to everyone for the replies, really helpful.

I figure I'll polish out a couple of my last core skills so I can fly the Slicer in FW, while doing that I'll go for scanning skills and Anathema. After that, thermodynamics. And whatever I'll want after that. Seems like I have a skill plan for now. Smile

Just remember that you do not -have- to get a skill to level 5 for it to be effective.

Many skills are effective enough at level 3 and come into their own at level 4.

This means that you could try them all out.

It won't take too long to get the skills to level 3 and still not too long (in comparison to level 5) to get them to 4.

I would highly recommend bringing all the skills to at least 3 before starting in on bringing individual skills to 5. Usually having a few skills at 3 is far more effective than only having one skill at 5.

As an aside, I love the slicer. Great little ship!

Faction frigates are just as 'vulnerable' as t1 frigates, since they don't benefit from T2 resistance bonuses, and usually have similar EHP. So, while the navy slicer is a cool ship, it also dies incredibly fast if you don't keep your wits about you. Flying an Executioner will give you roughly the same ship at a slightly lower speed and much lower cost. Then once your laser skills are up, and you have more 'soft skills' (they can't be trained with SP, just time spent playing) you'll find the slicer may be more than a flying coffin at that point.

Then again, with maximum possible frigate skills, I still prefer the crusader over the slicer, so you have the right idea with interceptors (especially since they just got majorly buffed).
