Well being as new tvs are being released, I plan on upgrading my plasma to one of these overpriced models with super high definition, and getting an oculus rift. So will we be supporting 4k resolution or should I just touch my nipples while staring at your daughters camwhoring for handouts on twitch.tv?

Seeing as 4k probably will not really hit for another long while... you'd prolly not be getting that anytime soon.

Also, I think you already made up your mind what you will be doing rather than playing so keep on doing that.

When your nibbles get sore, cause you are going to rub them for a few years, let me recommend Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour lotion.

Do games even “support resolutions" any more? Didn't that go away when tile-based 2D games went out of style?

More or less yes. Some older 3D games only supported set resolutions as well.

EVE is running on whatever resolution your PC can run at.

If you want just buy 4k monster + occulus in future that you mention, however 4k hardware got zero impact on occulus.

Occus take signal from grafic port with static resolution depending on occulus specyfication.

Many many people is already using 4k monitors, and daily more and more people is buying them

4k is already a nowadays thing, getting more and more popular

But obviously eve is 10 years behind the times if not more.

thumbs up if you like :))))

You are vastly overestimating that market share... According to the latest Steam Survey less than 1.5% are using a monitor with a resolution higher than 1920x1200. Standard 2560x1440/2560x1600 monitors represent 1.15% of the users...

I'd hardly call that 'many many' people when there's 7 times as many people still using a 1280x1024 monitor.

There aren't even that many people using more than 2 monitors....

If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all...

Lets look at facts and some test, even gf titan and r290x showing around 22fps on 4k monitor with resolution 3600x1920 with max details, while playing modern top games, bioshok infinity bf4 etc...

Come on even develepoers seeding k4 stuf on market in these days this make no sense, biger scren resolution you got less preformance from even top grafic card while playing on - high-ultra details.

Personaly i would take this instead of k4, ultra wide 21:9 aspect ratio running 2560x1080 pixels resolution.

Eve will handle it fine. (just bump the scaling)

Your PC probably won't.

As far as I'm aware EVE is only compatible with resolutions up to 1920x1200 - while it can run at higher resolutions, such as dual/tri screen setups, I think 4k will actually be TOO much for it; no so much the UI but the textures that the ships currently have; they will appear vile and hideous (no offence towards the Art Crew) and remind you of the late 90's/early 00's.

Judging by the OP's proposed 'alternate' use of his 4k, I think he will have lost enough of his eye-sight to not be able to see the difference by the time it's supported.

Not really, no. In fact, it doesn't even make sense.

2560x1440 here. Works just fine, looks just fine, provides nearly enough real-estate for all the windows (at least with 90% UI scaling).

I play on PPP eyefinity at 3240x1920 without any problems. So 4K would be no problem either i think

Confirming that textures (not just) in EVE at this resolution looks hideous. But UI at this resolution is fantastic. 3x more information than on FullHD.

Hell most cable companies don't even support HD on more than one or two channels. I don't expect 4k res to be any different. There's no bandwidth for it, they'd rather give you 40 channels offering the same re-runs and ads instead. Waste of money in my opinion but hey, it's your cash and you will do what you want with it.

EVE can play at higher res. I play at 5760 x 1080, but the image is stretched, so it's not native. Ships, stations and planets look amazing, but nebula dont look as nice.

Most PC games (including Eve) are resolution independent. You can run them at 8k if you want. As long as your hardware supports it.
