The Big Shield Lobby: A new eve online pvp/nulsec blog

Hi everyone,

I have just started a new eve pvp blog: The BIG SHIELD LOBBY and thought I would advertise it a little. The blog is here:

While I will remain anonymous on the blog, I am a nul sec resident from an english-speaking pvp alliance.

The blog will cover:

a) battle reports (from my perspective as both line member and FC)
b) fitting guides (with a special emphasis on low cost/skill point ships)
c) Interviews with other players and leaders in the nul-universe.

The first post is a battle report on the recent capital fight in ZJA between N3/PL and the DTF. Includes pictures!

As someone who likes to think quite deeply about the game, the blog will be pretty "hardcore" but I will try to explain terms and acronyms where required.

Congratulations on starting a new blog Big smile I wish you alot of succes with it!

Having a blog about something you enjoy in the game can be a very enriching experience. A tip from me would be to build in long running thematic posts (like PVP kill highlight, or Nullsec corp/alliance highlight) Such thematic blogposts help you when you run in periods of low activity/low insiration.

Right on. Bump this occasionally when a new post is up so we don't forget.

I have some questions about it though:
A) What's this blog about? What is it's specific focus? Random PVP news and fittings abound; what should draw us to read yours?
B) I note that your first post is quite lengthy, and it's purpose is unclear, beyond simply relaying what happened. Do you see yourself constraining your word count, or honing a specific purpose per post?
C) Is your purpose to act as a news site, or are you instead focusing on acting as an opinions and advice column? I humbly suggest that you choose either advice/opinion, or news - Don't muddy the waters by trying to do both personally.
D) What reasons led you to making a blog? There's lots of clear and effective writers out there, so why read you?
E) What does your blog's title reference? Is it related to it's focus, or why we should read it?

I hope you take these questions in the constructive spirit that I intended. =)

Hey thanks for the responses/free bumps!

The title "Big Shield Lobby" is just a funny phrase I read on a forum once. Someone was arguing that Wyverns were the best supercarrier and someone else replied saying "dont listen to the Caldari big shield lobby" or something and I found that image quite amusing. I also couldn't think of anything better!

Yes post length is a problem. I probably need to be more disciplined, something to work on. However I don't think the posts ramble or are unclear as to their content. There are paragraphs, headings and everything is proof-read at least once.

As to what is special about "my" pvp blog, nothing except I think the content will be hardcore and written with an open-mind. As with my Thorax fit, i'm not just going to post my Thorax fit and say "oh its my favorite give it a try". I posted all the other fittings I tried before deciding on that one and explained the various choices made. I also play with some dudes who are quite spectacular at this game so that will add some value to what I choose to write about.

Just make sure there are lots of posts about cats and cat related issues. Otherwise I won't visit your blog.

EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise
