More casual play

I've played Eve off and on over the course of the game's history but never been able to make it stick. Early on the day of my birthday I was invited to a far off system of highsec by my corpies to run missions and mining fleets. I went to Jita and loaded up a cargo ship to the brim with a few ships to have fun with while I was out there. Not 5 seconds from undocking my ship was destroyed and i lost about 600mil. Unknown to me was the rule to not load a ship with that much due to station campers. I must say it is really annoying that I'm paying for a game that I have to play for 2 weeks to gather up ISK just to loose all of it in the blink of an eye. The person who popped me has the same name as his corp. Making the kill rights worthless and he hasn't logged on besides to collect the bounty I placed on him. I have a real life and I don't have time to work backwards. Also I don't have the funds for multiple accounts to rob people in highsec. I can understand that this behavior would be totally acceptable in lowsec but not in a 0.9 system of space. I would compare this to getting mugged outside of the supermarket when you just spent your pay check on groceries.

My suggestion is to make this game more friendly to players like me. Casual players. More separation of PvP and PvE. Make some part of space safe for people to get away from the real world and not get stabbed in the eye by another random player. I'd like to see this game do well because I'm a big sci-fi fan. But I can not in good conscience continue paying for a game that I could loose everything I've worked for in the blink of an eye, simply by putting it in space for the first time, in a place that is supposedly 'secure'. It's a waste of my time, money and not an experience I want to pay for. There are people out there that take gaming too seriously and that reflects on actions and choices they make in the real world.

I don't pay to be blow up for doing nothing out of the ordinary or attempting to enjoy this game with people that I've met. Also its hard to get to know people in this game due to the fact that anyone can rob me blind if i trust them too much. Not the type of community I would choose to live in so why would I pay for it? The reason this game will never be more than a website banner on WoW game pages is because you pay to loose time.

Your going to get flamed so hard for this, not even kidding. Basically, the reason EvE is a good game is because of the consequences you hate. The risk associated with doing anything. Yeah, it sucks to lose out, it also adds value to what you do. No one here wants a space set aside for only PvE activities, because it's player interactions like this that make the game valuable. Want my opinion on casual play? Buy a PLEX, sell it for ISK, use said ISK to load up on frigates and go PvP in low. You may even enjoy it.

Welcome to EVE... where PvE activities affect PvP and PvP activities can affect PvE in kind.

If you want to be immune to the unwanted actions of others then you have to give up your ability to affect (both directly and indirectly) people in unwanted ways as well.
From my perspective that means you can never undersell me, sell ships/mods/ammo of any kind to people who are hostile to me, or charge me more than 1 ISK for any item i buy from you.

Also... "high-sec" means "high security" and not "total security." It is safer RELATIVE to other areas of the game (low-sec, null-sec, wormholes) but is not, and should not, be safe.

I suggest looking into Star Citizen, or perhaps the X series. EVE is clearly not the game for you.

Posting to confirm there's no such thing as "separation of PvE and PvP" in EVE.

When you buy a hauler, you're PvPing against others to see who can get the good-priced ships and fittings first.

When you fly to Jita, you're PvPing against other traders to see who can get there before the best deals are gone and you're PvPing against gankers to see if they kill you or not.

When you undock from Jita with your ship full of loot, you're PvPing against others to see if you can escape before they do - thus shifting the risk of gank elsewhere. You're also PvPing against the gankers to see if you can escape before they kill you.

Short answer: Get an insta-undock, tank your hauler, don't load it with 8x its value in cargo and stop asking to have EVE padded and bubble-wrapped for your safety.

First, of all I want to let you know that I think your idea is really not good. Eve is not a casual game and should never be one. Second, one of the strongest claims to fame eve has is that all players are together on the same shard. It sounds very much to me like you are proposing to separate them more; this is not good for the game or for ccp. Third, ccp is looking to make walking in station a reality .. Someday maybe you'll be able to lounge playing pvp and pvp neutral games of chance etc.. Day trading is also available in stations. While I would argue that these activities should never be free of competition with others, at least you may call them somewhat passive if not casual.

I think you may be right in assuming that this game is not for you if you require more casual play.. perhaps Wow or something where casual play is the selling point might be more to your liking.

Day trading is probably some of the harshest and most brutal PvP EVE has to offer. Just a thought.

Go to the test server, 100isk items and pretty much the whole universe to 200 ish players.

You'll need to keep your tranquility player updated and still running skill ques, but ratting without many consequences can happen on there I guess.

Checkers.

Nope. Objective is to "kill" the opponent's pieces without losing his own.

Tic-Tac-Toe.

Nope. Being impossible to win can often be the same as losing.

Dress-up game.

Nope. There are some colors and patterns that should never go together.

Life.

You failed at this the moment you tried EVE. You failed even harder when you "gave up" in it.

W-space.. the most anarchic space youll find, and the most fun. it dosnt have pipe-bombs or hot-drops or cynos.. more solo/gang pvp some occasional fleet v fleet of maybe 200 to 300ish people or so at tops, your forced to be more self reliant with in your corp or alliance some large money to be made too and the lack of local makes it more of a thrill when dscanning for prey or Dscanning to make sure you dont become prey. also mass limits on wormholes can insure no; or limited amount of caps can enter/exit forcing more cunning plans and also todays enemy can be tomorrows ally.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd rather invent a story about me going to africa to cure AIDS before admitting that I just did the rage quit over something that only exists on a server maintained by a company that in theory could just decide to do something else entirely... Straight

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Rather than rage quitting, learn up on it. Eve is a great game because it is so in depth, complex, and for the most part, free form.

Yup, sometimes people get screwed by it.... and sometimes they do things that become Eve Legend.

Well deserved, considered that you took the wrong game for you. EvE is not for peeps like you, and guess what? You could have known that in advance.

I suggest to do your homework next time..
