This was when i realized that the bike was always going to be faster then i could go mentally. After taking a b-line at 180kph on a curve in the freeway and sling-shotting to the outside lane, nearly hitting the center barrier, it was then that i started riding tourers.

always lean more, it will always lean more than you want it to,

Suffice to say that incident woke me up a lot.

I did a lot of riding courses over the years because they were fun to do, but at the end of the day the new crotch rockets were always going to beat me.

I don't know if it ever happened to anyone else, but when you get a fast bike, you "take your brain out before you put your helmet on." All you want to do is get on the thing and go sheer mental. After that scare i realized that i had pretty much hit my limits and the bike had even more to give. So i switched to something that i can't kill myself on tbh. (figuratively speaking) I don't feel as tempted to try and race the crotch rocket guys anymore.

Also, i'm getting old! lol

2000 Honda Shadow 750. It was my first bike and I mainly ride it during the spring to fall months, stopping the insurance for the winter because it's cold as **** in northern Italy. The other months are worth it due to the amazingly beautiful scenery here...at least when it's not raining.

I want a Triumph, though...namely a Thunderbird. Too expensive right now, however. Harleys are just overrated, imo. Sure, they're nice looking (some of them) but the amount of upkeep needed isn't worth the price tag, and let's face it: you're buying a name, that's all. I like to ride, not pose at rallies.

This.

I've ridden bikes, dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and (I'm showing my age here) three-wheelers since I was a kid. When I first got on a crotch rocket, I realized immediately that my life would come to an end very soon if I continued to ride them. You just want to go faster and faster and faster, even if at first you're quite careful. Once you get used to the bike, you start to push the envelope but the problem is that envelope is extremely fast and dangerous and, like you said, you may have reached your limits but the bike hasn't, and that curiosity will literally kill you.

Choosing a bike is like dieting; if you remove all the unhealthy **** from your cabinets and fridge and replace it with food that is good for you (or at the very least won't kill you), you're going to lead a healthier life because although that temptation is always there, you aren't able to partake in it.

lowside in jeans and a t shirt and no gloves and an open face. he's doing a fair lick too. What? hope he got off quite lucky is all i'll say. had a good look round the motorcycle show in birmingham on saturday and a couple of the harleys caught my eye. must be getting old Blink old retro ww2 army type bikes looked really cool.

I sat on the triumph daytona 675R and booked a testride, wow that bike is so comfortable to sit "in" everything just feels right, down to the way the tank hooks onto your knee. so thin too unlike me Big smile. down sides from what i could see it's not going to be easy to rip off it's road clothes to get it set up for track, i could prolly throw my road fairings/subframe/brackets/lights etc back on my gsxr in and hour or two if needed. the triumph looks like an epic all day job.

im from the same type of background, when i was 19 i stopped riding bikes on the road. i knew that i would die if i carried on especially riding with mates. over here in the uk at least there is now a good selection of trackdays that while expensive are not prehibelativley so, so there is somewhere safer to explore what the bike can do.

the taking your brain out is what i call the red mist especially if someone passes you. the devil inside you takes over Twisted we as humans are genetically set at max comp mode, just have to know and reconginse that, control is key. most accidents i've come across while riding on the roads have been people riding in "gangs".

Well, now with the snow up here in upstate NY, the riding season is officially over. Salt and ice on the roads = no fun.

Bike's hooked up to the Battery Tender in the garage and thus the season of farkles begins. This winter:

USB Ports on the dash
Ram Ball mounts for electronic devices
Maybe run some electric into my top case for devices to recharge
Another powerlet outlet in front for heated clothing

Can't wait for spring.

That's Mulholland in Los Angeles... there are so many motorcycle accidents on that highway there is a crew on permanent duty around that corner to close the road and clear the crashes. It's one corner... aptly named "dead man's curve"

Look up the youtube channel "rnickeymouse" the guy sits there and records it all
