again with the same issue, maybe if ccp would actually respond to people with these types of issues instead of stonewalling then we wouldn't have to keep making more stupid low fps threads that already litter the internet (and im not talking about the rubicon stutter im talking about the sh*tty performance 'feature' that was introduced back in f*ck knows which patch, crucible?)

anyway more pictures! \o/

-alter the camera angel by the tiniest amount and oh what is this, eve works at this angle but not the other \o/

i have tested on another machine (i5, amd 5450, 4gb ram, same but smaller hdd) and in the brief time i was on this maching (a few hours) didnt notice any wierd fps drops, only from the expected limitation of the cheap 5450 when scene complexity escalated with graphics set too high. (and gpu usage showed this component to be maxed so fps drop are expected)

apart from the gfx card (amd 7870 in main) the difference between that comp an one i usually run eve on is the cpu (phenom 2 quad @2.8, slightly lower clock than the i5) also the main rig still has an IED controller where as the i5 runs on Sata, other than that spec wise they are very similar.

so could this be caused by using hdd on a IED controller? seems unlikely but this is the kind of thing im hoping ccp will chime in on... im kinda struggling on how to even continue to diagnose this

i have bug reported this more than once, sent petitions, and the only response ive ever had is..urrm,tried turning ur xbox controller off? -_- now i honestly feel the only way to get anything from you guys (ccp) is to spam forums publicly.

im not some jeb end trying to run 7 clients on a pentium 2, but i wouldn't mind being able to run better than all low settings in a stupid l4 with some stupid rats AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHH!!!

again, specs..

Thanks for the info - we are investigating performance issues in our DX11 engine. I wish we could test thoroughly on every graphics card (and every hardware configuration in general) before we release but I'm sure you understand that is not feasible.

I'm sorry we don't run better on your setup - we'll do what we can to improve the performance.

thank you for the prompt reply, however ive been having this issue for a while now so i don't believe it lies with the the dx11 engine, it started around the time you began to add v3 shaders.

infact the more i think about it the more that makes sense, how it comes and goes but is nearly always repeatable in the same location, and how changing the camara angle by the tiniest amount can make it go away altogether.

certain areas seem particularly bad (the structure on the far right in the first room of 'the assualt' l4 for eg) and minmatar npc's for some reason, i have a feeling its to do with their missile effects.

i know im on amd so i dont expect miracles but now they seem to have fairly decent drivers (only took them a year) on the 7 series i figured it was worth a shot to try and get this looked at.

Tl; Dr = not DX11, possibly issue with v3 shaders (if not hardware related)

I can confirm that a merely slight change in camera angle makes unusually large differences in fps performance, and that has been around long before rub/dx11. It's really weird, one moment the fps struggling to keep up a decent pace, the next you move the camera slightly to the left/right/up/down, and the fps jumps to a smooth 60fps. It's like your rig falls asleep and camera angles are a way to wake it up.

It's definitely not something to do simply with the dx11 settings; For one, it's been around for a while. I'm still using the dx9 setting, dx11 settings cause weird UI flickering on my rig and odd green color outlines to appear around ships when explosions happen near them (also, dx11 seems to cause Eve to minimize to desktop after a few minutes of inactivity, as if I alt-tabbed).

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

I run a 7970 and play 2 maxed eve clients fine without this issue (1 on each screen)

I've not had this issue in eve but i did have it in another game, I cant remember what it was.

The problem was that the graphics card was switching between 2d and 3d clocks. and naturally when in its 2d clocks (desktop mode) it doesnt have the power to do, well anything.

Can you perhaps try MSI afterburner and check what your current GPU/Memory clocks are at when the issue happens?

To be fair your framerate graph looks relatively consistent sure there are differences in camera angle, I thought most people had issues with the nebula performance in the past.

Its not like you're getting low FPS spikes down below 30 fps. it doesn't appear to stutter at all.

Try MSI afterburner set it to monitor GPU usage, Vram usage, and clocks for both, as well as FPS.

also keep task manager running, split the CPU graph into logical cores (so you can see if maybe a single thread is being maxed out)

I'm running this on a 690GTX, same damn problem. Mentioned it to a GM once though and I was given a "We don't support dual GPU cards" talk... I assume he also means Crossfire and SLI setups as well. Still, even on a single chip, I should not be coming to a crawl when entering a dust cloud in a mission or turning the camera one way or the other (yeah, I get random FPS drops as well depending on the angle I'm viewing at).

I have simply wrote it off as this, CCP is behind the times. Not in their game play or mechanics necessarily but more in terms of the engine and it's technologies. We're celebrating content patches that add new ships here and there or a few new features and calling them full blown expansions. @#$%, I wish the same effort was spent keeping the content and technologies that's already there up to date and with the times so that we have a game that takes at least some advantage of modern gaming standards (yeah, I realize that's vague, but don't know how to 'put' it) and offers a somewhat stable and quality experience.
