OP, which N3 corporation do you belong to?

EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise

They lured me into eve online with exciting stories

In actuality, the stories should be told in 10% tidi and end with "and then the node crashed"

They also don't usually start with "an idiot jumped instead of bridged"

"lost tackle, hostile supercaps escaped"

Triggered by: Wars of Sovless Agression, Bending the Knee, Twisting the Knife, Eating Sov Wheaties, Bombless Bombers, Fizzlesov, Interceptor Fleets, Running Away, GhostTime Vuln, Renters, Bombs, Bubbles ?

Goons are pretty alright as long as you don't assume they won't shoot you just because you might be blue to them.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

Goons are hardly the only players in game who would sell their virtual mothers for a little bit of ISK or 15 minutes of fame.

Having said that, EVE is a game. And like any other game, people tend to be the assholes online which they aren't in real life. Mitanni is a good example. Many people consider him a first class ******* while he's a pretty cool guy in real life.

Here's the honest truth (warning, Pro-CFC paragraphs ahead):

Prior to my CFC days, I was not a fan of goons. Much like everyone else all I had ever heard was "goons are bad" "grr goons", etc. Tales of them ganking people and scamming people and them hating on everyone were all you heard about them.
Then I got the opportunity to join an old friend in a CFC alliance (SMA), and I took the opportunity hesitantly.
Once I arrived here though, I realised it's all nonsense. Like anyone else, they want to do well, want to support their members and want to crush their enemies. Metagaming is a huge part of that, and that's usually what gets them the bad name.

One thing that I did find strange what these "elitists" were not even remotely elitist. They have things to do for all types of players, and because of that they get a diverse group who are willing to work together. This recruitment poster I think sums up the mindset that I think many alliances are missing:

Anyway, with my pro-CFC rant ended allow me to say HTFU nubbin!

Is there ever a time when you look at your virtual table scraps and wonder if it was worth it? I personally would never want to join the largest "winning" team in any game because I know such groups are full of people who are afraid to really challenge themselves and can't handle being the underdog. They also home to the most obnoxious, blameless elitist dicks who are usually crap when it comes to actual player skill. Is there ever a time when you resent your fellow power tools and wonder if being on the "winning team" is really worth it?

Winning all the time makes it easier to put up with the obnoxious members.

You guys wanna know the tragic thing?

When I went to null sec, my 1st alliance was very anti-goons. Fought goons all over the north. later we joined Atlas and fought Goons, then my corp join IT and we fought Goons, left IT, went to -A- with some freinds and fought goons. left -A- went to Raiden and fought goons before joining NCDot and fighting goons (Didn't want Tribute anyway btw).

Up till recently my whole EVE life has been fighting Goons. Years and Years and Years of spilling Goon's space-blood. Now this aweful forum (inhabited by the most impotent and irrational Goon/null/pvp haters i've ever seen in gaming) has turned me into a Goon Sympathizer....

Damn you General Discussion, DAMN YOU.

I don't have your history of shooting goons but I can sympathize with your sentiment. Some of the reactions to the poco rush have been hair raising.

What I can't help but wonder is if some of these bad posters are goon alts, straw men to be publically mocked. Of course this is paranoid thinking, but I find it hard to believe that posters that silly actually exist...

edit: post vanished?

Wrong. People aren't the same assholes IRL becaues there are real life consequences to being an ******* when someone has the ability to actually punch your face in and leave you disabled. When you have anonymity, you have no social inhibitions and you can be who you truly are without consequence. The fool, clouded by his own self importance and poor perception, somehow thought his a-hole actions would be accepted IRL as well as online. Needless to say, It wasn't.

Like a bee swarm, goons share a common set of pheromones. So the company of one goon to another is nice and familiar, like smelling yourself (people really do that). They only turn into a stingy buzz of virulent venom when they smell an outsider.

People who don't like the goons are either allergic to bee stings or jealous of all that sweet honey they collect (it's actually 20 time regurgitated and half digested nectar).

Mittani got so stuffed on gelée royale he had to go on a low carb diet. Poor queen bee.

Really? You are new to facebook comments, where people have their idiocy for their friends and family and co-workers to see.

Just because you lose your social inhibitions when hiding behind an NPC alt and act like you really want to, does not mean everyone else does.

Alternatively, yes, I actually want to run people over in cars like i do in GTA Roll

And, I am impressed by your ablity to personally know all X thousand members of CFC and Goons. How you get anything done in game while fostering these relationships is beyond me.

It's doing wonderful things for my abs, though. Probably end up comparing fitness notes with Roc at the next Fanfest.

W/r/t the NPC alt, I wonder if I should just pre-empt the whole YOU ARE A BAD PERSON finger-wagging by adding something like "I am a terrible human being who makes inappropriate jokes after five jagerbombs, which is indeed unique in the history of mankind. I also use profanity, gank, grief, and scam." into my forum sig. Thoughts?

You are desperate to be liked by the popular kids aren't you? It's coming out clearly in all this silly waffle. The moment anyone from Goons held out a hand to you, you'd be on it like a dog's **** with your skirts up around your ears letting those nasty men prod around in your fetid mimsy. Weak thread.
