Good Ship to aim for (Alliance/gang warfare)

Hey guys, just starting this game up again after about 2 years of never playing it, most likely going to be making a new character, as I've came back to this game before on a character with relatively good skills and tried to get a corp and just told i was a 'spy' or something.

ANYWAY.

I was wondering what ship/faction i should aim at skilling up if I am most interested in pvp such as alliance warfare and gangwarfare, I know ship balance changes with pretty much every expansion, and I don't want to focus on getting a ship that will do zero good for me.

Thanks in advance!

You would do well with a Zealot.
Armor HACs are desirable for their damage projection and ability to signature tank.

Sentries are the current flavor of the month, so getting into a Prophecy or an Ishtar would also be good,.
Logi is always wanted, so you could go for a Guardian or a Scimitar.

Minmatar have been shafted lately, so I would advise against them at the moment.

Tech 2 huh, wouldn't that take a good amount of time to fully skill out for? If I'm going to be fitting un-halfassedly. What ships would you recomend I use as I build up to that?

edit: read your post again, thanks for the additional info

The Prophecy is a T1 battlecruiser, that one wouldn't take too long if you're looking to get into sentries.

Judging from your character's race, I would assume you have Gallente skill set.. a Vexor or a Thorax would be fine for now.

If you're interested in the Zealot, the Omen is the T1 equivalent which you could use as a stepping stone.

Well, like I said, I'm probably not going to be playing this character, I've come back before on skilled up characters ( I also corp hopped a lot) and been accused of being a spy.

Probably going to be making a new character, it sounds like amarr is a really good faction to start on, really strong offensive ships it seems. Do they have any good frigates at their disposal? I geuss it really doesn't matter what frigate i take since they are so quick to skill up, but I'd like to train a singular gun type so I can minimize my time to become viable in large/gangwarfare pvp.

I wouldn't waste my time retraining but just look for a good corp that's willing to give you a chance to fly with them, or start your own.

Having said that, if you want to train Amarr frigates and las0rz, take a look at the Imperial Navy Slicer.

I'm thinking about going with the Thorax - is there a huge difference between going blasters or drones, I have relatively good stats for both. I think I remember hearing blasters are more dmg??

I am also in need of a good solo pvp ship, I realize that might not be the easiest thing to get into, but maybe there is a good tech 1 solo pvp ship you could recomend? -

Jaguar. It's a beautiful ship, easy to train for, and it punches well above its weight. And everyone loves fast tackle in fleets.

Dictors, interceptors, and logi are pretty universal.

Otherwise, check with your alliance for a recommended training path. Everyone has a different doctrine.

Alliance warfare, huh. Most would love an Aeon or Archon.

If you want to join progodlegend and his coalition that exists to destroy GSF, it might be worthwhile to consider a titan. Erebus, most likely.

You want gang warfare but are concerned about accusations of being a spy? Join RvB! We just assume that everyone is a spy and simply don't care. No need for a new character, come join the fun! I too hadn't played for a long time, and joined to experience PvP and just never left.

Even if it's not your final home, you'll have a good time and will refresh your skills.

edit: Prophecies will go well with RvB... but honestly, *any* ship will do. In general, at the moment, there is indeed a strong drone meta, which favors gallente and some amar ships. Interceptors have been really buffed and are now insanely fast, and it's very possible a new style of fighting will emerge from that - the change in warpspeed is going to shake things up. Ewar wise, at the moment damps are dominant. Capacitor warfare also has been boosted, esp for amar who now have a capacitor/drone battleship.

To answer your question, there isnt really a specific answer anymore. It used to be a nano hac or a BS but now there are so many doctrines that you need to be training for about 5/6 or more ships. The answer is, check with your alliance, they will have a set of doctrines that they fly in all fleets. You cant say train for a Battleship because different ships from different races are used a lot now. Then its also down to how you fit/use that ship for example Domi's are a big thing at the moment, but they are used for Sentry drone fleets, so then you need to train for sentry drones as well.

So the thing of the moment is

Sentry Domis, Sentry Ishtars, Apocs, Zealots, Naga or Nados, Tengus, Proteus, Lokis, Archons, logistics (Scimitar, Guardian), Lachesis, Huginn, Rokhs, Tengus are still used but not as much as they used to be.

Again check with your alliance and they should give you a training plan

All my views are my own - never be afraid to post with your main, unless you're going to post some dumb shit

For the long run:

Train:
ALL T1 subcap ship sizes to V
ALL T2 subcap ship sizes to at least IV
ALL T3 subsystems to at least IV
ALL gunnery at least IV
Sprinkle in some missile skills
Shield + Armor tanks
add on top any amarr carrier of your choice, with jump + jump support skills at IV
Sprinkle in support skills in drones, electric warfare, fitting, anchoring, tackling and the likes

Congratulations, you are now ready for any alliance based warfare.
