Clearly there's an EVE Online corollary to Godwin's law.
I'd call it "James Amril-Kesh's law", but saying that makes me want to pod myself repeatedly.

I tried petitioning once to have the dash taken out of my name because my old alliance forums wouldn't let me register with a name that had one in it, but they also wouldn't let me use a name that didn't match with my character. No dice. I ended up just making an alt so I could register.

ITT Malcanis gets called out for doing what he does best, bluntly roflstomping willfully ignorant posters, and a self professed libertarian looks silly by equating goons and their membership to the national socialist party of post WW1 Germany.

Business as usual then.

There seems to be undercurrent of wishywashy sentiment appearing on the forums recently. I got pulled up by another poster for using the following, commonly dispensed in these parts, advice of : "cry more, htfu, adapt to the change, or biomass and gtfo" in yet another ranty whine about the Rubicon/ ship balance changes.

Posting in a "I want to have a CSM removed because they dared to call someone ignorant & dumb on the forums".

Although, props for invoking The Mittani's drunken outburst where he crossed the line by recommending someone commit suicide in Real Life.

If only you understood why the Mittani's live-broadcast to 1000's of players that encourage RL harm to another (mentally unstable) player is a very different situation than Malcanis' forum post stating an idea was dumb and ignorant, and often posted by dumb & ignorant players.

Perhaps Malcanis is going bitter-vet after seeing people not appreciating the hard work involved with being a CSM member, which is easily worth more than a trip to iceland. Perhaps he was having a bad day. The truth is, this thread is about picking on Malcanis because he is on the CSM. Had this been anyone else, they would have just been reported and warned. But the OP though he could stir up a shitstorm because of his profile, rather than because of his actions.

I personally disagree with you here. The Alliance Round table has historically involved slandering other EvE players, displaying accomplishments, and the like. This includes having people sing a National Anthems to "save their ships", QQ eve-mails about infamous scams & acts, etc. The Mittani's misstep was publicly encouraging others on live tv to harass him until he "killed himself". In general, attacking a character is acceptable, but attacking the person behind the character is not.

I have noticed with my own post removals over the years, that sometimes the only requirement is that someone got upset enough to report it.

That being, one of them, when he sees a report, just removes the post without looking at it.

I once got the word "punt" removed from a post. Granted, it was immediately prior to the word "cuncher", but nonetheless.

I will however point out that I do feel that the whole thing was needless and in poor taste.

And Mittens, we've all heard the Jagerbombs excuse. As you well know, 'I was drunk' doesn't wash with most judges when you're brought in for killing someone, directly or otherwise. That whole thing could have had very serious consequences, and not just for the poor shmuck you targeted. Further, I might point out that Ginger Magician (who the old players should at least vaguely remember) got a lifetime one for threatening someone's life in a far less serious manner than you did. His threat was laughable. You're might have actually driven the guy to suicide.

Consider yourself lucky, and think twice before you put on your self righteous act when someone reminds you that you did that.
