So, Malcanis gets a free pass because "he's always been that way" and "he's keeping the stupid in check"? Sadly, if you've been even lazily paying attention, you've noticed quite a change in Malcanis's tone and demeanor for a while now. Old Malcanis would have been mean to the OP but in such a way that it would have made you grin (sometimes, even the OP would have to smile). This new version is simply attempting to degrade others and humiliate them. That doesn't make me grin; it makes me a sad panda. That said, I've never found Malcanis useful so he's never really stayed on my radar. The OP got my attention and so i went through EVE Search to find just what in the hell was said. I shrugged at the suggestions being made (I stopped paying attention to CS back when Javascript was still hip and new) so I glossed over his/her suggestions in my head with "even I know this is a bad idea; TiDi is fantastic compared to the old, and instigating this stuff would make the devs band their heads into the wall". When I scrolled down to Malcanis's response I cringed hard. WTH man? Why would you belittle someone that hard? Obviously, I agree with you that the OP was wrong, and had I beat you to the reply I may have even made a snarky comment, but you went on a verbal assault that was genuinely uncalled for.

I love this game and I would like to see new players entering. As would CCP - it keeps everyone employed. But when CSM members are allowed to smash a newer player for making suggestions (regardless of whether they are inarticulate or flogging a dead horse), how in the world do you expect a new player to feel welcome? Or, at the very least, how do you expect them to learn anything when they get publicly derided for asking questions or posting ideas? Yah, I know, I know - the CSM aren't elected to be adverts for EVE Online. So what? How does discouraging new players - CSM or not - help any of us?

And ffs, nothing pisses me off more than hearing someone say "for the thousandth time" or "oh god this thread again". Yah, it's annoying seeing the same topics over and over again from fresh faces. But here is a wicked concept - you asked all those questions too, remember? Besides, the search function doesn't always pull up what you need because (surprise!) sometimes you don't know how to phrase just what the hell you're looking for! That's why they start a new thread, brace for the incoming trolls, and pray someone with half a brain will link the relevant post or just answer the damned question.

All that said, do we need to remove him? Not yet. Everyone has bad days (or in his case lately, months). If he kept doing this over and over again and progressively got more nasty, I'd consider it then. This CSM is on the backend and we'll just vote in someone else.

Also - good to see Mittens on the forums; I never see him here. It's gotta be hard for you to post because of your infamy. That said....

No, dude, it was the whole presentation in general that was appalling. I can't believe you still don't see that. Criminy man, even back then you'd think you could hire a speech writer and PR guy out of the Goon iskies pool.

No sir, he still has the same tone and manner as he always have.

It just seems that with the little tag on his name, everyone's butt holes pucker at the prospect of trying to drag down some one to their level.

I wanted to let the OP know, I contacted the party you have been white knighting for and let her know how you feel. Just remember, If you guy fall in e-love, e-hook up and have e-babies, it was me who made it all possible.

Don't ever say I never helped a e-brother outCool

No, to me this really doesn't seem the case. I don't know if it corresponded with getting the tag, but his posts do on occasion come across as more abrasive than I recall in the past. The posts linked on the first page of this thread were neither witty not pleasantly sarcastic, 2 things I enjoyed about many of his posts. Not that this thread isn't overblowing the whole thing, but even in that thread you could see some legitimate call outs for the posts in question.

Responsible persons don't tell others that they are dumb with a statement, they explain why with arguments. (By the way that's also more entertaining to watch)

In any case, I want to remind people three things :
1- A vote is binary. Either you vote for someone, either you don't. You cannot endorse every part of one's personality just by voting for him. And maybe a person elected was just the least worst of the lot for instance.
2- For someone that litteraly has CSM written on his face (avatar actually), you are right to expect, not a denial of his personality, but at least some effort to show the good example and to be constructive. (ihmo he was constructive... on some of his posts)
3- ISDs intervened in his posts so maybe we are not delirious when we say that he went too far.

It's a generous thought, but no you won't.

I'll be back to calling out bad posts with wrong ideas in without the benefit of a special tag next year.

Yeah definitely not my best work, so apologies for letting standards drop. An entertaining trio of ear-nose-throat infections, and the associated medication might have thrown me off my game just a touch. I'll try and get back to calling out bad posts with wrong ideas in with more style going forward.

Lest anyone make a mistake though, I 100% stand by my position that TiDi is a Good Thing™ and that the complaints against it are based on a combination of ignorance or deficient reasoning ability.

Or -just possibly- a misconception that parroting bullshit that angry people say on fleet comms is a good idea anywhere outside of CAOD.

indeed politik is a tough game... not everyone can handle having to call manour gold and with a smile for long.

typically this is why people become disingenuous about politics.

i do tip my hat that you did it for a year.

TIDI is like Democracy just like mr churchill has said: "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried".

Litterally if there was a better alternative to TIDI it would have been done by now.

No, no, he just wants the block feature renamed to "Hide Moron". This would make it even more therapeutic to use it.

No it's fine, unless ISD decide it's a personal attack ofc.

You may not recall, but in fact it was always my intention, clearly declared in my campaign thread IIRC, to do one term.

Finding out the CCP already had pretty concrete plans to do quite a lot of the stuff I was hoping to advocate for only reinforced that decision.

Those who wish to review the thread may note that although I may have on occasion fallen a trifle short of being invariably a "~goodposter~" at no time have I broken any promise, commitment or undertaking to be nice to people with foolish uninformed opinions. Quite the reverse, in fact.
