I wanted to get my shield training skills up and get the bonuses that come with it, and i notice that the bonuses were not being shown or displayed on my ships shield display. For example Its still showing my Thermal Shield at 50% shield protection and my HP the same in the shiled display even though i have trained Thermic to lvl 4.

Is there something i'm missing?

Shield Skills Trained: (Training to Lvl 5)
EM Shield Compensation VI
Explosive Shield Compensation VI
Kinetic Shield Compensation VI

Those skills only apply to the passive shield resistance modules (Shield Resist Amplifiers). So unless you're fitting a Resist Amp, your stats aren't going to change. And chances are, to raise your shield resists you're going to want to use a Shield Hardener instead. Hardeners provide better resistance boosts at the expense of some capacitor. Unfortunately, they're not affected by the Shield Comp skills.

No

Shield hardeners are active modules that increase your shield resistance to a single damage type (EM/Thermic/Kinetic/explosive) or all 4 to a lesser extent (adaptive invulnerability field) in exchange for a small amount of capacitor charge.

Shield extenders are passive modules which increase your total amount of shield at the expense of an increased signature radius (making you easier to hit / target). They come in sizes micro - small - medium - large (of which only medium and large are used with any frequency).
