Can we consider the launcher a failed experiment and remove it?

Its failing every single patch... time to remvoe it? Or hire decent programmers?

never had a problem with my launcher tbh, an insulting the ppl that give you a great game to play is always a great step to take

I think CCP have very decent programmers, but indeed my Launcher seems unable to process a patch, always gets stuck and I have to force close it with Task Manager and run Repair to get things going properly.

We just had a major expansion. I'm frankly surprised there haven't been more hard crashes. If you haven't seen worse, then you haven't been here long.

CCP is never going to live down breaking windows.

so they have to reboot, whats the big deal, you think eve is the only mmo or game for that matter that doesnt/wont/cant have bugs, bugs are apart of gaming life if you're not used to them by now and expect a finely polished article from something thats constantly updated and maintained then yer dreaming

quit your whining make a coffee while it reboots and get back into the action when it does

The launcher always works for me on all my pc's.

I fail to see the relevance of a server reboot in a discussion about the launcher.

Maybe the people who have trouble patching their client should check out if their operating system is correctly installed. I play Eve on Linux with wine and the patching succeeds without trouble. So if the launcher works on a completely foreign operating system, I'm inclined to say that the problem isn't with the launcher.

I'm not telling you to quit playing EVE and go look other MMO that fit your wishes, no, I really want you to stay and play with us and CCP, not against, but seeing that, maybe, you are borderline to a rage quit process, I will just ask:

Can I have your stuff?

If your balls are hurt and bleeding don't sit in a pool full of piranhas (note to myself: don't complain in GD)

Patcher has never failed for me. I am more concerned about not being able to change what steam thinks my account is so I can auto login from steam /sigh

Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows.

Yeah, because a cluster shutdown has on so many levels somehing to do with the launcher.
The very fact you can even quote that message means you were logged in and to do that you most probably had to go through the launcher (that was working like a champ getting you in the game and all that).

And go back to downloading patches manually from the website? Yeah that was real convenient Roll

I've only ever had one problem with the launcher and that was during the Rubicon deployment when CCP rolled out a corrupt version of the thing. Other than that it has been doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing. So maybe the problem is with you...

This, I only go to the launcher for patching, is too slow to log in with.
