Warp Disrupter stopping MWD

Hi,

I've been out of the game for a couple of months. I was tackling ships all last night with a warp disruptor, trying to stay about 15km away (i.e. out of web range). Anyway I ended up getting webbed (think he overloaded the module) and warp disrupted and my MWD was disabled. I clicked on that MWD and nothing happened. I couldn't for the life of me get it working. Has there been a patch to stop my MWD working after being warp disrupted now? This happened on a few occasions. I'm not sure if I missed something that was stopping my MWD working, because I can't otherwise explain it unless there has been a patch that makes MWD disabled by the warp disruptor?

Thanks,
Steve

2 Warp Disruptor dont disable MWDs, do they?

MAybe you fought an Interceptor or a gallente Recon? Those have range bonuses to warp scramblers

That's what I thought. That's why you fit a web and afterburner with a scram, but you fit a warp disrupter with an MWD.

Maybe I just missed something that was stopping me MWD away. I will test it tonight with a friend on his ship to confirm.

A warp disruptor (or any number of simultaneous warp disruptors) doesn't disable your MWD.

A warp scrambler does disable your MWD.

However the in-game effect for both is the same and the game calls them both "warp disruptor". (And the notification is "warp scramble attempt from X to Y" for both. Talk about consistency.) As far as I know, the only way to tell which one you are affected by is to try to activate your MWD.

Yeah but you usually see a little picture above your capacitor showing which one is getting you. The blue disrupter looking pic is the scram, and the turquoise color one is the disruptor. I could have sworn it was a turquoise colour, that's all. I must be mistaken though!

If you are being disrupted while you are pulsing your MWD doesn't it make you unable to start the MWD again? and i mean the disruptor not the scram.

Blue = Warp Scrambler = No Warping or MWD'ing [tradeoff is less range than Warp Disruptor]
Turquoise = Warp Disruptor = No Warping althougth MWD will save that azz if you get gotten [much greater range than Warp Scrambler]

... or something.

He could've had a ship with a range bonus to scrams or was getting off grid boosts, which is common.

agreed, he was likely hit by an actual warp scrambler from 15km.

Would help to know what tackled him.

How do you know for sure it was a disruptor and not a scrambler? You got a killmail?

Only warp scrams knock off the MWD, no number of disruptors will

There's a number of ships that have range bonuses to Scrams, you might have been fighting one of them. Also, I think one or two of the officer scrams have a longish range, though I highly doubt that was what hit you.

Pretty much been stated already, but even a Keres can overload a T2 scram to 18.9. If you're in to throwing money at problems, it can overload a True Sansha scram for 3 points out to 23.6. Either an Arazu or a Lachesis can get a T2 out to 18 before overheat or 21.6 with overheat. TS gets 22.5/27.

So yeah. Know what you're up against at all times. Long points are long.

Short range scrams will turn off your MWD. That being said, some Scrams can reach out to 7000m-16km if not more. This is done through a variety of things.

1. Overheating will increase the range of the scram.
2. Command links will further increase it.
3. Faction points have a larger scramming distance.
4. Some ships are tailored to having a scram range bonus (Interceptors, Keres, Arazu, Lachesis)

Your enemy could of used a variety of these tools in order to scram you at a distance you were not expecting.
