Is there a command line option to force directx9 for those with framerate issues?

I am not one of these people, I have a 6970 crossfire setup and everything is sweet for me, just trying to help others.. They sound a little frustrated..

To get around the launcher issues at least.

Create a shortcut pointing to bin/ExeFile.exe, add /triPlatform=dx9 /noconsole to the command line.

My only beef with this is that I run a semi old(3 years) laptop with DX11 installed and can run Sisi on DX11 but can't run the main server as the launcher states "Your computer only supports DirectX 11."

Little confused as to why I can use the launcher for Sisi with DX11 but not tranquility. Someone with some knwoledge please explain this too me. Might be better to PM me in game.

Also having same problem as above, is there a way we could force dx11 like the above are forcing dx9?

Sure, just put dx11 instead of dx9 on the command line. Clever, right?

Create a shortcut pointing to bin/ExeFile.exe, add /triPlatform=dx11 /noconsole to the command line.

Of course it's not really needed - dx11 is the default. If dx11 is not supported for any reason it will still fall back to dx9.

I have a Geforce 8800GT card which only supports Directx10 running under Windows 7 64 bit. The Eve launcher reports that I can only run Directx9 but the Eve client will not run and complains that there is a problem with driver D3DX10_42.DLL.

I have tried reinstalling Directx from Microsoft and using the Eve supplied drivers neither allow me to run Eve. I have also tried to force Directx9 by using the command line you provided but Eve so will not run.

This appears to be an issue with the code in the Eve client which controls the Directx version not recognising cards that support Directx10.

I am currently able to play Eve so am not a happy bunny!!!!

Thanks

What exactly do you mean with 'complains that there is a problem with driver D3DX10_42.DLL'? Do you get a dialog with an error message? What is the exact message?

You could try running DirectXRedist.exe from the EVE/bin folder. This should be run by the launcher if needed, but it's worth trying.

CCP Snorlax,

The Windows error message I get when I press "Play" in the Launcher, or when I directly run "evefile.exe /triPlatform=dx9 /noconsole" is:

"C:\Windows\system32\d3dx10_42.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.".

I get this message once then Eve runs "DirectXRedist.exe" then I receive the same error message twice and am returned to the launcher window.

I have run "DirectXRedist.exe" re-booted my PC and then tried to run EVE and reloaded DirectX using the latest download from the Microsoft site rebooted my PC and then tried to run EVE and I get the same error on each occasion.

I was able to run Eve after the Rubicon launch, the problem occurred after update 1.01 was applied. The problem still appears in 1.02.

If there is any other information I can provide or any other tests I can run to assist you in resolving this issue please tell me.

Thanks.

Yes, sorry, we're juggling quite a few issues. My colleague looked into this, and we can't figure out what is going wrong. It seems as if something has gone wrong with your DirectX installation, although I'm not sure how that could happen as you were running fine before. Do other games run without issues?

I suggest you try running the DirectX installer from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113, or the end-user runtime web installer: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35.

Let me know if this solves any issues - if not, we'll have to take another look.

I have 2 pc's, win7, eve won't detect directx11. Run dxdiag 32 and 64 bit versions on both pc's and they both detect as dx11.

DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode

CCP Snorlax,

I have re-run the end-user runtime web installer: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 and get the message:

"DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation is required".

Based on information provided by Microsoft here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/diagnosing-basic-problems-with-directx I reinstalled Eve - I am still unable to run EVE and receive the previously described error messages.

I also confirmed that I can still play Borderlands 2 without any problems.

I have noticed a number of similar issues have been raised by users in the forums since Rubicon was launched. Though in most cases nobody seems to be querying the DirectX level supported by the users Graphics card. I suspect that some if not all of these cards only support DirectX 10 and this is the trigger for the problem.

Thanks

Simon,
I need to see some logs. See https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Bug_reporting, run with the log server.

Create a shortcut pointing to bin/ExeFile.exe, add /triPlatform=dx9 /noconsole to the command line. Start up the log server first, then run EVE with this shortcut.

File a bug report, put my name in the title so it gets routed to me directly, attach the logs. We'll figure this out.

CCP Snorlax,

I have submitted a bug report with details of the problem, actions taken to date, logserver output, Dxdiag output and your name in the title.

Do you have a DX11 video card? That 'DirectX Version' listed in dxdiag's 'System' tab is just what version of the directx API is running on your system, which for win7, should be DirectX 11. however, that does not mean your GPU supports DirectX 11 features, which is what eve checks for when allowing DirectX 11 mode.

Where do I add the \triPlatform=dx9 \noconsole line? I made the shortcut but I am not sure where to add the new part. When I try to add anything it tells me invalid and doesn't let me change anything. I don't know enough about programming.

Use forward slashes, not backward slashes. Add this to the command line where executable is specified.

Thanks, I don't know how the backward slashes got there. I thought I copy and pasted it but I guess I was wrong.
