Mining Ship restrictions

Since there are countless 1.0 and 0.9 systems that have empty belts about 5 hours after dt.

How about restricting barges to lower secs statueses? For an example:

Venture: 1.0 to -1.0
Mining Barges: 0.8 to -1.0
Exhumers: 0.6 to -1.0
Orca support: 0.7 to -1.0

That way, the real noobs can still mine if there wasn't a bigger mining operation. and the much better tankeble barges have to deal with rats.

Edit: In many missions there are ship restrictions too, so peeps need to have msmaller ships for easier mission (not all though)

In missions, ships are restricted from entering through the use of acceleration gates. How would you keep barges out of high sec asteroid belts? I like the idea, but how would you actually implement it into the game in a way that makes sense?

Well. This changes things...

Much better option than arbitrarily restricting ships. Capitals make sense because they require a cyno to move around, and the empires don't want omnicidal demigods to have access to the most powerful ships in the most densely populated areas.

But saying we can't mine? Little odd. Move away from jita, or amarr, or dodixie, and you'll find plenty of empty systems. You'll have to haul a bit further, but that's the price you pay. Save up for an orca or use the new industrials.

Like they restrict bombs, cynos and bubbles. the modules don't work in higher sec systems.

pretty horrible idea and completely unnecessary.

I must agree. Nothing wrong with how things are now. If you don't like empty belts in 1.0 systems, don't mine there. Or as stated previously, move to a less populated area.
