The effect has a much longer history than that, EVE Never Fades uses it and dates back to Exodus(?), in fact it could almost be called a trope of EVE trailers.

yep the old trailers are most epic. The new ones with that stupid chick are the worst. Rubicon is so bad and that chick **** me off so much only bright moment was when she was floating dead in space.

I think this is the one that made me play the game: GNW video - Best video out there to be honest. Also because it tells so much history. :)

Agreed, they are almost as bad as the laughable real world acting for the 'I was there video' ...
