Coming back from a long break away from eve and looking for some help into getting a pve drone setup going. My end goal is to become more comfortable playing and play around with those new exploration ships introduced in rubicon. I think the best way to get reacquainted with the game would to be by doing some missions. I've almost got 1bn isk to spend on getting a nice setup.

Got about 16m skill points, 2m skill points unspent.

Current skills: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=EqwBAiYR

I love drones, and I like the idea of hacking and archaeology and salvaging.

Any tips on builds and guides would be greatly appreciated.

You have somewhat low gunnery and missile skills. You do have nice Gallente spaceship command skills and decent drone skills. Personally in your situation I would train up Sentry drones and aim for the Ishtar.

An Ishtar will let you cruise through any mission from level 1 to 4 as well as a whole lot of other PvE content. You could start with a Vexor, if you wish to use something cheaper for the earlier, easier missions first.

The drone skills are also useful on the new Stratios Sisters of EvE cruiser. This could be a goal or something to train for as well. These are more exploration oriented. I think many people will agree that when it comes to missions and PvE, sentries are the way forward at the moment. Heavy drones are handy to have as well, but their usefulness is situational.

Normally I'd say save your unspent points, but if you want you can always use them to instaskill Sentry drones to 5.

EDIT: I think my Ishtar + armor tank fit costs about 450 mill, that is including a 150mill faction medium repairer which you could carry over to the Stratios, once you're in one.

You should really train the Armor damage compensations though. Without it the passive hardeners are a bit weak. Of the top of my head, I think my fit is something like this:

High:
1x Drone Link Augmentator II
3x Small Remote Armor Repairer II

Mid:
3x Omnidirectional Tracking Link II
1x Cap Recharger II
1x 10mn Afterburner II

Low:
3x Drone Damage Amplifier
1x Corpum C-type Thermic Membrane (Change depending on what you're shooting)
1x Corpum C-type Medium Armor Repairer

Rigs:
Medium Nanobot accelerator II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II

Drones:
5x Grade II
5x Ogre II
5x Hobgoblin II
5x Hammerhead II
5x Salvage drone I

You are more than welcome to change the fit as you like. Some people will suggest Shield fits, which work very well too but since you have much better armor skills and your goal is to get in to the new exploration ships (which have armor resistance bonuses), I would recommend you go with an Ishtar armor fit. Some will say you don't need 3 Omnidirectionals on an Ishtar, but I found it still makes a difference in applied damage. This fit is cap stable with the repairer and the afterburner on. The remote repairers you can pulse on your sentries, should one take damage.

I can't see your skills, gov computers are fun like that. But I'll just do a lay out. These are for L4s

Drones - Ishtar, Gila, Domi, or Rattlesnake
Missiles - Tengu, Legion, Cerberus, Navy Raven, Navy Scorpion, or Golem
Lasers - Legion, Abaddon, Apoc Navy, Arma Navy, Nightmare, or Paladin
Hybrids - Proteus, Rohk, Mega Navy, Hyperion,Vindicator, or Knronos
Projectile- Loki, Tempest fleet, Machariel, Maelstrom, or Vargur

I'm sure I missed some, but that's a pretty good list. It all depends what you enjoy flying. Missioning is boring as hell so try to find ways to have fun with it. All those ships can solo L4s very easy. And I'm sure any you are interested people can link fits for you. I use a Rattlesnake, Tengu and Golem. Missiles are easy, do amazing damage if skilled up and you can be pretty lazy with them. I do L4s for sisters of EVE, if you are interested in help mail me and when I'm on I'll help you as much as possible.

Drones are great because you can switch them to whatever size your target is, and sentries do amazing damge. Can also use every damage type. They can be popped though, so only use sentries unless the target is within 15km

Missiles are nice because they do great damage, and usually can have great range even with close weapons. some ships you can use every damage type. Take a lot of ammo and sign radius modules and rigs to help them.

Lasers are great for missioning because they rarely break and you usually get 100% from your investment because you are rarely need to buy ammo. They take a lot of cap though and only do EM/therm damage

Hybrids are nice because with rails you have amazing range, and with a lot of those ships still get good oto great damage, with blasters the damage you do can't be matched but you will be moving around alot. They take a lot of ammo though and only do therm/kin damage

Projectiles are nice because they have great falloff usually, and with arties can alpha great, and ACs can wreck too. Also about to use every damage type

So work to what you want to fly. To be honest after the patch Marauders having bastion mode they pretty much win as PvE kings. As bastion boosts your defenses greatly, and you are immune to Ewar, and marauders can also use MJds much more effective then other BSs.
