Character onlining notification functionality

I'm listing here some of the functionality I think character onlining notifications should have.

  • Right click menu on notifications
  • This is explained here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=35334

  • Notifications should also show standings
  • What if the notifications that a character came online would also show his standings towards me, e.g. blue, red, neut etc. This would prove useful if I'm in a fight and a blue comes online, then I'd right click the notification and convo him to help me. Or if a red comes online, I could look at his info and decide whether I should go after him or not. The way I see this is having those small standings icons overlayed on the characters avatar in one of the corners.

  • Drag and drop notifications
  • During a war, when you're closely monitoring your enemies, if one comes online you usually want to let your corp know about it. So why not have the possibility to drag the notification in the chat window, thus linking the character's name?

  • Change the location where notifications appear
  • Some players might have windows with important information in the lower right corner. Having 5 people online at the same time might block that window and prevent him from reading that information. I for one keep my cargo window there and there have been times when I could not swap ammo because I had people onlining over the window. I propose the possibility to change the location of notifications, the same way you can change the location of your targets using that small circle icon. That icon could only appear when a notification is present. When a user starts dragging it, the notification should remain there until the icon is released AND the timer should be reset so it doesn't disappear as soon as you release it. This would allow for further repositioning if the user is not satisfied and not having to wait for another character to log.

If you're gonna post here thinking your idea is the greatest thing since bacon and that it will save EVE and possibly all humankind with it, you're gonna have a bad time.

While you're at it, make it so that logging off actually removes them from the "online" notifications reliably. I regularly have to remove and re-add contacts just to make sure they're actually still online. :-/

So true, very often characters remain online in the watchlist even though they're not anymore. This makes handling WTs such a pain since you have to re-add them to make sure they're online/offline.

That one should hopefully be fixed in the Crucible expansion (Nov 29th). Please let us know if it's not.

You are absolutely awesome. \o/

I have I think three bug reports with this bug, all closed at various times. I'll happily report again if it breaks again :-)

Thank you!

Actually, the fast method is to change their standings to a different level (such as -5), then change them back. Which lets you reset the "online status check" without losing any tags that you have applied to the contact.
