you dont understand i dont care if there is only 3. i care that those 3 are better then the standard ones.

I think giving out special ships is great and i totally encourage ccp to continue this policy.

but having vanity ships with skins is enough to be worth billions of isk. that should be enough.

its a slippery slope.

What does that have to do with anything? Is your argument that, since they don't have a lottery system in place, it's therefore okay to just give Somer IG benefits for the use of his lottery system?


If CCP wants to distribute unique items via lottery, CCP should construct a lottery system and employ it themselves. The only players who should benefit from it should be the ones who win the lottery - there's no reason some 3rd party player deserves a cut of the action merely for existing. CCP employs a number of programmers. I'm sure they could sort out a random number generator on their own with minimal hassle.

perhaps not free space but i would not be surprised if they were used in the alliance tourny... its been done before.

and the fact that they may never be flown is not the problem i have with them.

it sets president that its ok to give out better versions of ships to whomever they wish.

they also said they were doing a review of this policy and to be honest i am worried about this becoming a "thing"

what i do fear. if CCP agrees what all the dumbears want. if they say or not. that they will give out more. it wont be exclusive anymore. and this will happen to any 3rd party.

then our idiots go cry to CCP all the time when a new EXCLUSIVE item is gonna be released. and ccp will need to give them bears the item. beceause they did before.



itll ruin a vital part of EVE.



also. SOMER is not the only 3rd party involved. chribba holds one too as a 3rd party. but why dont i hear you about that ?

You seem to think the reason we're upset is because we didn't get them.
The reality is that we're upset because CCP showed favoritism (several times in fact) for a particular player group.

We'd be perfectly fine with it if CCP had given them out themselves, randomly, on their own terms.

James is, actually 100% on the money here.

Now, I don't care tbh either way, but please remember the first major thing the Goon Faction ever did of real signifgance as a player entity was destroy folk who had been unfairly treated with favour by CCP.

Tbh, most people whining about "Gewns" also whine about S/B and you should probably be thanking them because without Gewns this would be the norm.

He shouldn't have been given one, either, because CCP should not just be handing out in game benefits to people for their popularity and out of game contributions.

That said, the Somer issue is more obnoxious since they've been recently embroiled in controversy for the same ******* reason, and Chribba hasn't.

CCP needs to find a way to support the community beyond simply handing out **** in game.
