Hello and good evening.

As alot of peoples have the desktop GeForce 400 / 560 (Ti included) series GPU's today, i'm pretty sure some of you here have seen that your computer might locks up in some games and specially when you are browsing the web sometimes.

I have that problem my self and the problem can be so bad that i actually have to hard reset my computer sometimes via the power button as the computer simply locks fully up.

This problem is nothing more than a driver issue. And the issue have all been here after the R314.22 driver was released (R314.22 driver was the last driver who was stable). Today we are at R331.82 witch is the newest GeForce driver.

The driver issue is related to how the driver handles the power management of the GPU. So i had to use a workaround to fix this issue to begin with by using an application called NVIDIA PowerMizer Manager as you can download here.

First i had to click on the 'Create PowerMizer Settings' button. Then i had to 'Enable PowerMizer Feature' and then click on the 'Fixed Performance Level' to 'Max. Perf / Min. PowerSave' under both Battery and AC adapter and then just click 'Instant Apply!' or 'Apply & Reboot'. The 'Apply & Reboot' way is the safest way to do this.

Now, earlier today, NVIDIA released a driver fix for that problem witch means you don't have to use the NVIDIA PowerMizer Manager app to do the workaround anylonger as that was just a temporary fix. You can read about it and download the driver here.

I haven't installed the new fixed driver yet as it's just a test driver, so i'm gonna wait until it's going to be released as a WHQL driver in a new driver package on the NVIDIA driver webpage soon as i use the temporary fix via the NVIDIA PowerMizer Manager app that just works 100% now.

If you test out the new test driver and you don't see any changes (if you have those problems), you can always go back and use the NVIDIA PowerMizer Manager application to do the workaround as this workaround works.

Those 2 fixes does not work with mobile GPU's in laptops yet though. But i'm sure a fix for that will come soon.

Let me and other knows if this fixed your problems if you had those problems.

Have a good day Big smile.
