Apocalypse/Armageddon model swap

I don't fly Amarr ships often so I didn't noticed before that the new Apocalypse model has a huge drone bay on it's sides. I'm not talking about the ship stats, I'm talking about the structure that is visible on some of the new models of dedicated drone ships. The Algos does have it and now the SoE ships too. Have a look at then.

The Armageddon model has this huge projected structure on both of the ship's sides, similar to the one from the Megathron, dedicated for the fitting spots of turrets.
I think you already know where I'm heading.

Reading the bonus from both of those ships I imagine there has been some discussion amongst the dev teams on wich hulls to apply wich of the new ship bonuses after the battleship rebalancing. I know they probably have their reasons but I can't help but feel that the new Apocalypse model was designed with a drone boat in mind, whilst the Armageddon was originally meant to be a dedicated turret boat (just like the Megathron), and that they swithed their bonuses on the last moment.

I would love to fly this Apocalypse model fitted with drones and cruise missiles but since CCP already iterated over them with the addition of the new Marauders I simply don't see this happening.

That's quite a mess CCP.
Shame on you.

We decided to use the Apocalypse as the secondary laser platform, rather than the Armageddon for two main reasons. Firstly, one had to have drones, and the Armageddon already did. Secondly, the Apocalypse's optimal range bonus was unique and was already providing a niche (albeit small) and we didn't want to destroy that

A long time ago the Armagueddon was indeed a "gunship" with bonus to turret damage, the model was similar than the current one.
The Apoc had the same purpose as it has today but didn't have those "drone bay".

I also think it would be cool to swap those models.

They're not talking about the models, just the ship attributes. But that thread is good. It made me notice that the Dragoon model is somewhat similar in details and overall structure to the Apocalypse new model. It strenghtens my theory.
From a design perspective it's clear that this Apocalypse model is not meant to have turrets as primary weapons. The turret hardpoints are just details on the hull whilst on the Armageddon there is a whole structure dedicated to them.
