Dear CCP Sledgehammer,

I initially answered your question with "no", but since the Rubicon deployment the issue has returned. My answer becomes "Yes, the issue appears again after a period of time if I have a clean installation". This time, the trigger might have been the deployment of Rubicon somehow.

It's exactly the same. I jump through a gate and appear 1000000km off gate, able to bypass gate camps and what not. The only downside is that every jump/dock/whatever takes like 30 seconds. Long story short, it's the same as before.

I'm not in the mood to reset all my settings again, so I'm just gonna be a sad panda for now and take a break.

Hopefully, this gets fixed some day.

Kind regards,

Xasnevian

Edit: Alright, just after I posted this, I decided I wasn't gonna be a sad panda and started preparing to reset my settings. I switched the client from windowed mode to fullscreen and I exported my overview settings. All of a sudden I realise that I instantly undocked. I try to jump trough a gate. Instantly jump through.

It somehow got fixed again :S

First of all, thank you CCP Sledgehammer for replying to this thread! It's very good to know that the issue is being investigated :)

My initial answer is: No, the issue does not appear with a clean installation after a certain period of time.

But now that you ask this question, I'm not sure how long that period of time actually is. Off the top of my head, I'd say I have played for a maximum of 2 hours with a clean installation.

In the mean time, I'll put back the clean installation and see if I can get the issue to appear, either by playing the game or by using my computer as I normally do, other than playing EVE.

I hope you can find something. Good luck!

Not a problem! If you can just post here if you have any problems appearing with a clean install then I will add that to my list of factors that could be causing this.

Cheers!

Long shot, Dear CCP Sledgehammer any idea why I cannot station spin even after I completely deleted EVE of my HD?

I dont have this issue, but I have seen something like it in Sisi mass tests. During a mass gate jump sometimes you get a long pause and then appear 1 million km off the gate.

Ive always assumed it was because my client lost communications to the server, then got it back. The server assumed I got a DC and did an e-warp. Once the client reconnected, I was placed at my new location 1 million km off the gate.

So all who get this: Investigate your internet connection. Eve, especially Eve on a Mac, is a fragile flower when it comes to internet connection quality. Is your connection intermittent in any way? Can you try a good strong connection to see if that helps? Are you running any other app that uses the internet (backup apps, music, etc)? Are there any other devices that use tour connection that could be bogging the system down?

Thanks for your reply! I'm glad to hear someone describe the exact same thing I'm experiencing.

I'm fairly sure though, that it is not my internet connection that causes the problem. Where I live, we have very fast internet speeds and I never experience internet trouble in other applications. Also, I have managed to turn the issue off and on by moving some files around.

If this issue is caused by the EVE client losing communications to the server, maybe CCP Sledgehammer could be able to reproduce this error.

Vincent Athena, do you happen to know if the people experiencing this issue were playing on a mac?

In the sisi mass tests where I have had it, or seen reports of others having it, it seems to happen on both clients. It has only happened in mass jumps through gates, when the chance of lag of some sort; server, internet, or client, is maximized.

I do not get it on TQ, but then I do not do mass jumps on TQ being a WH dweller on some alts, and a HS dweller on the others.

Hey guys,

Just to give you an update: I am still actively looking into this but so far haven't had any success. Thanks for the additional info Vincent, I'll see if we can stress a test server to emulate lots of load/fidelity problems.

Cheers,

Sledge.

I just had one of these slow jumps on TQ. I was in the jump tunnel for about a minute, and upon arriving in the new system was 1 million km off the gate.
Before doing the jump I was in Jita selling stuff. During that process I noticed several long delays that I have come to associate with a poor WiFi connection. I am on WiFi, and this particular one seems to have .."pauses".. where it stops working. Ive seen it when just web browsing on this same WiFi connection. Also the building I'm in had alot of stuff that generates RFI that can interfere with WiFi.

So it seems to be associated with some interruption of communication between the server and the client. This could come from a huge number of causes. Load on the computer on which the client is running, server load, poor WiFi, bad ISP, and any issues in the internet links from the client to the server.

CCP, the best you can do here is try and make your systems resilient against such issues. "If architects made buildings the way coders wrote computer programs, one woodpecker would destroy civilization". Well, its not really that bad, but you get the idea. And I do know that some client and server builds seem to be better than others in dealing with these issues. For example that last time I saw this effect in a Mass Test was months ago. Lately Ive not seen it. You had fixed something, but now it seems to be back.

Just wanted to let you know that I have tested this issue and managed to reproduce it.
