First of all, im very new, but trying my best to learn, so please excuse a stupid question,

Im doing mainly lvl 3 missions in my Harbinger. I just got to T2 weapons, so I have it outfitted it similarly to a lot of the builds ive been browsing around... 6x Heavy Pulse Laser II with Scorch ammo, 3x meta4 HeatSinks, etc. and the best DPS I am managing is about 220. I can bump that to about 275 with Conflag ammo, but the range is too bad.

My question is, I am seeing posts of people claiming 500-800DPS in a harbinger, and my question is HOW?? Can skills alone really triple my current DPS or are they full of it? If this is possible, could you recommend where to start to maximize my DPS? I pretty much have the exact skills to get to T2 medium weapons, thats it.

Thank you

Full skills, relevant implants, rigs, faction ammo/mods, overheating. They all add up. Sometimes people also add the drone damage to their total DPS.

For reference:

Check my skills on eveboard: Sable

I have no implants that affects Harbringer damage in any way. I can get 507 DPS out of a tech 2 fitted Harbringer on SiSi. With five Hammerhead II's the DPS is 666 (No rigs used).

So, yes the skills do mean a lot but that's not the whole equation.

Edit: Overheating the guns brings the DPS to 583, including the drones 742.

The Amarr BC skill adds 10% damage per level (this is not stacking penalized).
The Medium Pulse Laser Spec adds 2% damage per level (this is not stacking penalized).
Surgical Strike adds 3% damage per level (this is not stacking penalized).
Rapid Firing adds 4-5% damage per level (this is not stacking penalized).
(I'm ignoring the Medium Laser skill, as you have that at V)

To compare and ALL V character to an ALL II character

Increased DPS = (Base DPS * 1.50 * 1.10 * 1.15 * 1.25 ) / ( Base DPS * 1.20 * 1.04 * 1.06 * 1.09 ) = 1.64

That's a 64% increase in DPS between an all LvL 5 and all LvL 2 character.

I too, can easily achieve 500+ turret dps in the harby.

Question: How are you calculating your dps? The dps numbers I posted are EFT dps numbers, which are nothing like applied dps numbers. Applied dps is almost always much lower as you rarely perfectly track targets.

Gunnery Skills, Heat Sinks, and Implant should be your besfriend.

You may also want to look at a Shield tank Harbi

Also Tracking Computers, and enhancers :P

According to your employment history you are five weeks old so your gunnery support skills are probably nonexistant.
See Gizznitts post.

Also DPS is the missionrunners e-peen, so expect numbers to be calculated on an All Level V, deadspace modules, gold ammo, overheating and +6% implants-basis.
