1st rule of Eve surely doesn't need to be repeated here.

However as to what the other guy did, he tried to deceive you and gain an advantage in an encounter. That's not bad play when it comes to war. That's good play.

Outside a war if he did that, I'd almost agree with you, but during a war, what he did was smart and there's no dishonor in doing the smart thing.

You luckily were also smart to smell a rat, so his tactic wasn't successful. You should both be congratulated.
