Game freezes after character selection since Ruby

Everything freezes and I have to cold restart. I can select a character, then when I get in-game some of the UI shows (neocon, station panels, etc) but nothing else loads and then my whole system is frozen.

Is anyone else having this problem? Fixes?

I'm using a MacBook Pro, Early 2011, 2.7ghz.

And I'm using Mavericks. Fully updated.
