I'd like to know which would be better for doing L4 / DED sites with a Tengu, 20% shield resist or 50% shield booster bonus? In other words Adaptive Shielding or Amplification Node subsystem ?

Take the amplification node with crystal implants (HG or LG depending on your budget) they work well together.

You have enough med to have good resist towards what you will encounter so you wont need the adaptive shielding which is better if you want to RR a few tengus to run sites as a fleet.

On mine i use a specific hardener and an invul and its enough.

PS : mail me IG if you want my fit.

Active tanking: Amplification Node
Passive Tanking: Supplemental Screening
Receiving remote Reps: Adaptive Shielding

Note that you can't get into 3/10 or 4/10 DED sites with a tengu any more so they aren't very useful for high sec exploring and also lost some their use in low sec exploration as well.

For high sec level 4's you will probably want to active tank with the Amplification Node, although there are some missions like blood Raiders 'The Blockade' which have neuting and your cap/tank/hardeners will die really quickly to just a couple of neuting cruisers. It's still doable with an active tank but it's not semi-afk until you know what you are doing.

Those missions are pretty rare (limited to Amarr space?) apart from one of the Cargo Delivery missions (Gallente iirc) which has neuting blood raider battleships - although you don't have to actually clear the rats and even if you do you can orbit outside their neut range which is, umm, 40km I think. It's been a while.

adaptive shielding is useful if you need an extra highslot, such as if you want t2 cloak + mwd + 6 launchers.

For PVE applications, there are very few situations where crystals are necessary (unless you're doing something stupid with your midslots). You're way better off just getting a better shield booster or better invulns.
