Scams

A scam is what happens when someone takes advantage of your misplaced trust, temporary confusion or ignorance of game rules, and robs you via legal in-game means.

How is what you have done through ingame means ?

You honestly believe you are right don't you? Please stop, your about to make me laugh even harder.

1) Please tell me what out-of-game mechanic i used.
- I can setup a whole website to advertise, Like Blinks for example, I just used something supplied by CCP

2) I Did not even use any mechanics for this, the scammed people did all the work, they just believed me.

3) Carry on posting, everyong is being amused

That's your particular issue right there.

CCP draws a very clear line between scam and exploit.

It's stories and threads like these that, if shown to the people with the right mindset, will lure more players into EVE. Either because they want to do it themselves or they're looking for a game where you have to enable your brain. The ones that don't get it, hate it or rage against it are the ones we can do without.

Well done sir.

So I setup a little ad, selling BPO's that are not even in-game yet (ad can be seen bellow).

I "sold" 27 billion worth of Rubicon BPO's... that's 27 billion profit in 4 days.

To All you IDIOTS who after 10 years of eve still cant tell what the most basic scam of all time looks like. (gimme your money now and you get 'it' later)

Of the 107 people who willingly sent me their money, 101 of them wanted it delivered in Jita.

Let me make this clear -> THE BLUEPRINTS ARE BEING SOLD AT JITA BY THE NPC's

Thank you eve for supplying sufficient Idiots that i can now buy my Nyx, in 4 days.

You advertised a product for a price on the forums, just took the isk for no product.
This is clearly not allowed, it would make a mockery of all the sale specific channels.

CCP - Please could we have a definitive reply on this please.

Generally in-game scams are allowed and considered a valid tactic as long as they are done via normal game mechanics.

Mostly because the opportunity for a forum scam that works only comes once every other expansion or so.

Here are the key points that should have tipped you off that it was a scam:

  1. A person you don't know
  2. offered you a service
  3. for ISK upfront
  4. with no collateral
  5. without using item exchange contracts

Sad but true, part of the game of EVE is sculduggery and confidence games. It is unfortunate that you had to learn this lesson so expensively, but it was a brilliant scam: perfectly pitched, beautifully timed.

At least you still have the shirt on your back! Cold comfort, I know, but you will eventually come to see that no loss in EVE is permanent, and that it is in fact the danger of loss that makes the game more interesting than theme park grind fests like WoW.

The useful part may be a stretch, but the OP no doubt considers you useful for something. Like funding her/his new super carrier.

LMAO.

Best thread for weeks!

Only thing negative on this is that most of the wannabe scammers would be filling the forum pages with ridiculous scams from now on, maybe they can even create bots to write that, OMG...Cry

Props at OP! Well done Sir, I love greed as well. Blink

They are where every ponzi scheme prior to Currin Trading was carried out.

Currin Trading was so successful because it didn't use the scam-infested forums but instead was organized by EVEmail.

See plenty of scams in market discussion forum, people need to research more before they open their mouths. Day 1 lesson in EVE is trust no one, guess the people who sent you isk never learned that one
